In Spring 2018, McKinley Kids raised a grand total of $6,320 for the “Pennies for Patients” annual charity fundraiser. This was McKinley Elementary’s most generous donation ever to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)!

“Pennies for Patients” is a science-based, service-learning program. LLS connects schools with local blood cancer patients, and allows students to see the impact they’re making in the lives of others.

Beyond the funds that McKinley Kids raise for LLS, our mission is for them to be involved in charitable activity. Contributing to LLS research in finding the cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and the improvement the quality of life of blood cancer patients and their families supports our mission. We believe that our participation promotes the IB Learner Profile qualities, specifically Caring.

NEW for 2019:
– A motivational and educational LLS Assembly for the kids.
– K-5 LLS STEM Curriculum especially created for each grade level.

It’s a great program!! Let’s keep it going!! Join the Hero Squad!! McKinley PTC is looking for a few enthusiastic and generous-hearted McKinley Volunteers to form a small team to lead our next “Pennies for Patients” effort April 15 – 30, 2019.
