Five top world stars Arsenal could sign in transfer window after Arteta insists they still want to join including Partey

MIKEL ARTETA has insisted that Arsenal will still be able to attract top quality players despite the club on the verge of missing out on European football.

The Gunners currently sit in ninth spot with just three games to play, and they could lose more ground on their rivals should they fail to beat Liverpool tonight.

Winning the FA Cup looks to be Arsenal's best bet of sealing their passage into the Europa League, but with the North Londoners to face Manchester City in the semi-final, Arteta's men will go into the match as huge underdogs.

But the Spaniard has stated that he is not worried about his chances of bringing in his targets, as he claimed that Arsenal will always be an attractive destination.

Asked whether the club will still be able to land key players without European football, Arteta said: "Yes.

"Because we've an incredible history, an incredible structure, in a beautiful city and a style of play that attracts players.

"I'm telling you now because when I am closer to the market now when I speak to people, a lot of players want to play for Arsenal.”

Here SunSport looks at five possible players that Arsenal could still sign at the end of the season.

THOMAS PARTEY

The Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates as he stalls on signing a new deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

It has been reported that the Ghanaian international is keen to join Arsenal, and wants the move to be completed quickly, although Atletico do not want to let him go.

Partey, 27, is available for £45million due to a clause in his contract, leading Arsenal to potentially have to sell players in order to nab him.

DAYOT UPAMECANO

The RB Leipzig ace is believed to be Arteta's No1 centre-back priority, with the player unlikely to sign a new deal at the Bundesliga club.

Arsenal are said to be in pole position to sign the French youth international, with Italian media reporting that AC Milan were told that the player was to join the Gunners.

PHILIPPE COUTINHO

With Mesut Ozil facing an uncertain future at the club having been frozen out of the side, Arsenal will be looking to bring in a new playmaker.

And they could turn to former Liverpool maestro Coutinho as reports suggest Barcelona have offered Arsenal the chance to sign him.

Coutinho could jump at the opportunity to return to the Premier League as he looks to rediscover the form that saw him earn a move to the Nou Camp.

SAMUEL UMTITI

With limited funds expected to be available to Arteta, Arsenal may be forced into the loan market.

Coutinho's Barca team-mate Umtiti has been deemed as surplus to requirements, and he will be allowed to leave on loan with the view to completing a permanent deal in 2021.

Arteta knows he must bring in defenders, and could see signing the French World Cup winner as a win-win situation.

ODSONNE EDOUARD

Should Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette leave the club in the summer, a new striker will certainly be a priority for Arteta.

Celtic forward Edouard could be the man tasked with leading the line, with the French star believed to be available for £25m.

The 22-year-old finished the 2019/20 campaign with 27 goals and 19 assists in 45 games - showing he is a provider as well as a lethal marksman.
