TREC is required by law to set an exam pass rate benchmark that all approved qualifying education providers must meet to continue to offer qualifying courses. This benchmark, or Minimum Pass Rate (MPR), is calculated monthly. The following table contains the calculated pass rate for each provider. The +/- MPR column in the table indicates how closely each provider meets, exceeds, or misses the MPR benchmark.

To be counted as a passing exam result, a student must have passed both the national and state portions of the licensing exam on the first attempt.

NOTE: The Commission has determined that it is misleading to include information provided in this table in any advertisement unless the advertisement also contains the percentage results shown below and the number of exams taken and passed in the same type size and prominence. See TREC Rule §535.65(c)(1)(C) for provider advertising rules related to exam pass rates.

Overall Provider Statistics

The Overall Provider Statistics row at the top of the table contains the combined data for all students included in the table, no matter their provider affiliation.

  • Sales Agent Pass Rate
    - The percentage of students who passed the Sales Agent licensing exam on their first attempt, within the past two years.

  • Broker Pass Rate
    - The percentage of students who passed the Broker licensing exam on their first attempt, within the past two years.

  • Overall Pass Rate
    - The percentage of students who passed the Sales Agent and Broker licensing exams on their first attempt, within the past two years.

  • Minimum Pass Rate (MPR)
    - Minimum Pass Rate (MPR) is equal to 80% of the Overall Pass Rate. To remain in good standing, each provider’s Overall Pass Rate must meet or exceed the Minimum Pass Rate (MPR).

Procedures for Determining Provider Affiliation and Status

Provider Affiliation

- If a student took the majority of his or her qualifying courses from the same provider in the two years prior to taking the licensing exam for the first time, the student's exam results are attributed to that provider.

Provider Status

- Qualifying education providers must apply for reapproval every four years. When a provider seeks reapproval, the Commission uses their exam pass rate to determine if the provider is in good standing, subject to probation, or subject to revocation.

  • In Good Standing

    - A provider whose Overall Pass Rate is greater than or equal to the Minimum Pass Rate (MPR) benchmark is considered in good standing.

  • Subject to Probation

    - A provider whose Overall Pass Rate is 50% or greater, but lower than 80% of the Overall Pass Rate for all students will be placed on probation when they file an application for reapproval. The provider’s standing will be reviewed each time they submit the annual fee.

    • If the provider’s pass rate is "In Good Standing" at the time they submit the annual fee, the provider will be removed from probation.
    • If the provider’s pass rate is "Subject to Probation" at the time they submit the annual fee, the provider will remain on probation.
    • If the provider’s pass rate is "Subject to Disapproval or Revocation" at the time they submit the annual fee, the provider approval may be revoked.

  • Subject to Disapproval or Revocation

    - A provider whose Overall Pass Rate is below 50% of the Overall Pass Rate for all students, may be disapproved when filing an application for reapproval.

See TREC Rule §535.61(l) for a complete explanation of how a provider’s exam pass rate is used to determine provider status at each four-year renewal and upon submission of each annual operating fee application.
