The platform, whose U.S. office is in Los Angeles, helps users build simple microsites that list the links to wherever they can be found on the internet.

"Link in bio."

The phrase is a frustrating workaround on Instagram, which doesn't enable links in individual posts and allows only one in user profiles.

Enter Linktree, a platform that helps users build simple microsites that list the links to wherever they can be found on the internet.

The Melbourne, Australia-based startup, whose U.S. office is in Los Angeles, has raised $10.7 million in a Series A led by Insight Partners, a New York City investor in Shopify, and AirTree Ventures, a Sydney-based investor in Canva.

Linktree will use the money to continue to expand in international markets, including hiring global team members, and developing its product and functionality.

Launched in 2016, the platform has more than 8 million users worldwide and is growing at a rate of more than 28,000 signups per day. Linktree saw more than a half-billion visitors in September alone.

Linktree accounts range from everyday social media users to celebrities such as Selena Gomez and Arnold Schwarzengger to brands including Red Bull and HBO.

Basic accounts are free, with a $6-per-month upgrade offering enhanced posting, analytics, customization, integrations, marketing and other features. Linktree also offers enterprise plans.

"We've been bootstrapped and profitable from day one, and have achieved a lot in four years with a lean, Melbourne-based team," said co-founder and CEO Alex Zaccaria in a statement, adding that bringing on investors at this point enables Linktree "to leverage their expertise to create something truly unique in the tech sector."

"As the internet becomes increasingly fragmented, brands, publishers and influencers need a solution to streamline their content sharing and connect their social media followers to their entire online ecosystem, ultimately increasing brand awareness and revenue," added Insight Managing Director Jeff Lieberman. "Linktree has successfully created this new 'microsite' category, enabling companies to monetize the next generation of the internet economy via a single interactive hub."
