SeniorMatch Review

The company is part of the Ontario-based SuccessfulMatch family of online dating services, which includes other websites such as MillionaireMatch. Online dating is popular with seniors, with 29% of seniors saying they’ve been on a date with someone they met online in the last 12 months.

SeniorMatch is ideal for seasoned individuals seeking serious romantic relationships or who want to meet a new friend. The service provides matches for both straight and gay clients. SeniorMatch compiles results from all of SuccessfulMatch’s affiliate websites and includes these when you search for matches for a broader selection of potential dates.

Pros

  • Exclusively for ages 45+
  • Free profiles with several communication options
  • No hidden fees or add-on upgrades
  • Broad network of affiliates can increase matches

Cons

  • Search results may include inactive profiles. Paid membership allows you to sort by recently active.

How to Use SeniorMatch for Online Dating

We rated SeniorMatch as Easiest to Use in our list of top senior dating websites. Get started by building a profile on the site and then search for dates matching your criteria. From there, you can contact matches if you buy a site subscription. Unlike other online dating sites, you won’t be automatically matched with other users or compile a list of potentially compatible partners. Instead, you are free to browse the website after saving your profile to find seniors who interest you. Even though the site requires you to be at least 45 to create a profile, it allows you to search among eligible singles as young as 30. This is possible because SeniorMatch lists search results from other singles sites owned by its parent company.

You can search for potential matches by gender, age and location with your free profile. To refine your search results by other factors like height, body type or religion, you’ll need a paid subscription.

Once you find a profile you are interested in, you can send a “wink” to get the person’s attention. If you have a paid membership, you can initiate a conversation via chat or messenger.

SeniorMatch Free vs Paid Membership

SeniorMatch offers both free profiles with some included features, as well as paid membership plans that include all available member perks.

Free memberships: Free profiles on SeniorMatch have a lot of advantages that you won’t find in many other online dating services. With a free profile, some of the things you can do include:

  • Search potential matches by age, gender and state
  • Send a wink to get a match’s attention
  • Reply to any messages or chats you receive
  • Comment on profiles and photos
  • Post first date ideas, viewed by other users and used to ask someone out in a paid plan
  • Add public and private photo albums

Premium memberships: Premium memberships include all of the features of the free plan and more perks to allow you to find and contact potential matches. Some of these benefits include:

  • Search possible matches by more specific demographic information like ethnicity, ZIP code or religion
  • Initiate chats or messages with other members
  • Check when a member was last active on the site (gives you an idea of how likely they are to respond to your messages)
  • Browse anonymously
  • See who viewed, favorited or liked your profile or photos, unless they were browsing anonymously
  • View most compatible matches
  • Hide profiles from your search results
  • Access safety tips and articles about successful online dating

SeniorMatch Costs

Unlike many dating sites, SeniorMatch does not have tiered membership plans. Instead, the company offers one Premium Membership, billed by terms with discounts for paying for more time.

SeniorMatch Premium Plan Fees
Term Total Cost Cost Per Month
1 Month $29.95 $29.95
3 Month $59.95 $19.95
6 Month $95.95 $15.95

You can pay for your membership with PayPal or any major credit card. You can also send a check or money order if you’d rather pay by mail. If you go with the one-month membership, your credit card will be charged for automatic renewal unless you cancel it. The three- and six-month plans do not automatically renew.

How to Join SeniorMatch

You can build a free profile at SeniorMatch.com by entering some basic information about yourself, such as your first name, age, state, height, ethnicity and marital status. You have the option to upload up to 20 photos. From there, you can build out your profile by creating a headline and writing an “About Me” section. SeniorMatch encourages users to upload as many pictures as possible and write a detailed profile to increase profile views, and thus potential matches.

At this point, you get access to all of the free features of the site. You can also go into your profile to add more information, such as whether you smoke or drink, political affiliation, body type and whether you have children. You can also add what details about what you’d like in a partner regarding the same questions.

To purchase a membership and access all of the site’s features, log in to your free profile at any time and click the large orange “Upgrade” button at the top of the website. Signing up for a membership is as easy as making an online purchase: You’ll enter your personal and billing information and choose a one-, three- or six-month plan.

SeniorMatch Complaints

SeniorMatch receives mixed reviews online. DatingScout, a site that reviews dating websites, gives SeniorMatch 3.5 out of 5 stars. It receives 2.5 out of 5 stars from SiteJabber, an online reviews site. Many reviewers mention that it can take a long time to be matched with a compatible partner. The tech magazine site Mashable found SeniorMatch to be the best senior dating site for finding friendship and romance.

SeniorMatch Q&A

  • What is SeniorMatch’s SPARK feature?

SPARK is a way to quickly view photos of potential matches and either “Like” or “Pass.” If you click “Like” on a profile and that user also clicks “Like” on yours, you’ll both receive a notification that you are matched. You can then message each other to see if you hit it off.

  • Does SeniorMatch offer any other ways to communicate with users?

You can post questions and comments in message forums, which are open to all users. You can also post personal blog posts that others can view and comment on.

  • Can I cancel my SeniorMatch account before the payment period is up?

You can cancel anytime and have your account removed. If you cancel within three days of starting your membership, you’ll receive a refund. After that, you will not get your money back.

  • How does SeniorMatch verify its users’ identities?

Users can submit a copy of their government-issued photo ID to verify their identity. This process is optional, but users get a special tag on their profile to let others know their identity is verified.

  • Will someone with SeniorMatch help me with my profile or any questions I have?

Premier members can access a dedicated account manager to answer questions.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a romantic relationship, SeniorMatch can help you find that special someone. With more free features than most sites, you can try the online dating site out before committing to a paid plan. You’ll know in advance if there are many possible matches in your area.

Your Platform is hard to navigate. Not all senior citizens are high tech savvy. I’ve signed a Premium Membership for almost two months Whenever I checked my message it appeared like this. "This message is temporarily unavailable in our app. You can read your message via our website https://www.seniormatch.com." Why can I read in the platform? Why do I need to go to the website? Please explain. Why your dating site ask me for my state ID, Drivers license, and passport. Am a bit worried it compromised my personal information.

There are no seniors. No youngsters. No appropriate matches. No matches at all. The only thing SeniorMatch could offer me was a thousand of scammers. This is not a legit service at all. I ended up meeting many serious women on J4Dates.com (some women are considerably younger than me, others are from my age group) and I even got a Christmas gift sent by one of them which really surprised me. Hopefully it will lead to something serious.

So join a proper dating site, gents. Reporting scammers on SeniorMatch had little or no impact so I totally gave up on it. They like to dangle a little carrot of a real meeting on SeniorMatch, but it’s just an illusion to keep you hooked and to rip of you at some point. Nobody wants a real thing there.

Nothing on here but men that are sexual perverts, tons of con men, men 15 to 20 yrs younger contacting you. NO INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES ARE ADHERED TO, NONE. Men that are over 700 to over 1000 miles from you.

You have to block most of these deplorables to keep them from harassing you. No men in my state at all here, REALLY???? Horrible, horrible dating site. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY.

Can't even text the site out without a large pmt amount. Can't see a thing. People like to know what they're paying for and you can't see a thing but a some profiles from everywhere in the world. Seriously?!! This site is only about the money.. They couldn't care less to match you.

So happy I didn't upgrade and pay for this service. I thought I would try it out for a few days but the only matches that are sent my way are from people who live way across country.

Why on Earth would I be interested in someone who lives thousands of miles away. Never found a match anywhere near where I live.

The reviews are scary, I was never able to get my picture uploaded? People report a lot of scammers! Going, going gone! Think twice before joining this site! It's almost into leave a review, saying that you are not leaving a long enough review?

Not only did this site send mostly men in the 50-65 range but I was lucky to realize that several who were in touch were scams seeking money etc. Reminded me of Tinder Swindler. What I saw on that documentary matched what was trying to happen to me.

Luckily I could spot holes in the profile and correspondence and after a period of time blocked each one. I paid 29.00 to go through this. I did report one. Couldn’t get the others to send. Be very careful about this site.

One of the first things I noticed about the site was the significant number of people outside my area. I've only quite recently joined (without a paid membership yet) and on my third day, I hardly see anyone locally (meaning within say, 25 miles).

One issue is that for the older folks like myself the prospect of having a long distance relationship doesn't seem too enticing unless the other person you're in a relationship is located somewhere where you planning on living at some point anyway.

Sure miss the ol' days when we had Single's events in person long ago which however most likely wouldn't have survived the COVID pandemic much less this online dating stuff.

Senior Match is a huge waste of money and time. Apparently they do not have enough members to provide matches in my designated territory. Only received matches out of state and across the country. Also, the app is not user friendly.

Beware of this site! I am a female, had premium membership. I only saw one or two profiles in my city of Houston Texas.

I met someone who I thought was a good match from Southern California. He said he was a business man, using IP phone, fake address, google Hangouts app texted communications, fabricated stories.

My kind heart was used to run errands for this man. I was asked to buy expensive Play Station 5, iPad Pro to mail them to an unknown address. Not only one person, they are a group of swindlers, taking turns to work on you. Beware!!!
