This location accepts household hazardous waste only. There is no charge for household hazardous waste disposal.

Only household hazardous waste is accepted free of charge on behalf of the Region. All other waste will be subject to the rates and hours posted by Miller Waste Durham. The Household Hazardous Waste Depot is open Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Site fees
Loads containing only free materials are free. Mixed loads containing both free and chargeable items are subject to payment for the entire weight of the mixed loads. Fees are as follows:
- $7 flat rate for loads up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds).
- $1.40 for every eight kilograms (17.6 pounds) greater than 40 kilograms (88 pounds).
- $175 per 1,000 kilograms.
- $20 fee for freon-containing appliances, including fridges, air conditioners, freezers, and more.

Payment options include VISA, MasterCard credit/prepaid cards, or debit. No cash, cheques or accounts are accepted.
Your vehicle will cross weigh scales both entering and exiting. Please obey all traffic signals and signs. When you enter, tell the scale house staff the type of materials you have to dispose. Staff will direct you to the correct drop-off locations. At the exit scale, staff will inform you of the cost.
- 50 litres or 25 cans per vehicle.
- 40 fluorescent light bulbs and tubes per vehicle.
- 10 tires per vehicle.
Residents dropping off a boat or other watercraft must ensure all fluids (gas, oil, coolant, etc.), flares, fuel and oil filters are removed. Remove the fuel tank from the boat whenever possible. If you cannot provide physical evidence there are no hazardous fluids on the boat, the boat will not be accepted. Removing these items protects the safety of staff and prevents environmental contamination.

Household hazardous waste
Do not put household hazardous waste (HHW) in your garbage. Drop off HHW at a waste management facility for free. When dropping off this waste:
- Never mix substances.
- Keep materials in their original container or in a well-marked container.
- All containers should be securely sealed.
- Securely pack materials in your vehicle to prevent spills.

Paint Reuse Centre
The Oshawa Waste Management Facility operates a paint reuse centre, promoting the reuse of paints and stains. Residents can drop off or collect high-quality reusable paints and stains at no cost, with a daily limit of five cans per vehicle.
Election Sign Recycling
Durham Region's Sign Recycling program provides election candidates the opportunity to recycle dedicated loads of corrugated plastic signs free of charge.
Wooden stakes, wire mounts, nylon zip ties, metal rings and staples must be removed from signs before delivering to the waste management facility.
Please note that loads of acceptable signs delivered mixed with other waste materials are subject to the regular disposal fee.
Candidates who are considering future campaigns are encouraged to retain their signs for reuse.
