Everyday, thousands of people from all around the world are using Interpals, a penpal website, from all age, from all background. They come for all sorts of reasons: language exchange, curiosity for the lives of people who live on the other side of the planet, to make friends in lonely times, and some have been there for so long they don't even think about it.

Unfortunately, some people have other motives. And by some, we mean an alarming quantity of them. Everyday, women on Interpals receive sexual proposals and insults from men who are not there for any of the reasons stated above, but only for indulging in their fantasies, at the expense of women, who not only do have to deal with misogyny in their own country, but who must also do it online.

These behaviors are unacceptable and are ruining Interpals for all of us. Because we are grateful for Interpals existence, we want Interpals to be a place where we can dialogue with the human kind without the fear of being used as pornographic material, being sexually and morally harassed, threatened and receive pornographic content in our inboxes.

Moreover, the presence of a lot of teenagers of the website makes it an even more urgent matter. We cannot let the young being the prey of dangerous men. We are responsible for the well-being of children, wherever they are living on the planet.

We cannot make the world perfect overnight, but we can make it better for tomorrow.

We are asking that Interpals publicly acknowledges this issue and takes actions towards a safer platform, where women and minorities can participate without having to protect themselves from sexual predators.
