myepets.com beware!! my e pet

Options
Tonight my daughter has purchased a "my e pet" from our local Tesco stores, this was part of a large display of the pets with a special half price offer, making them £5.00. Imagine her disappointment when trying to register the pet to discover that the website for it is no longer available.
Thinking that it may just be my daughter's computer I have tried to access the site on several other machines, only to be faced with the same issue.

On searching the internet I have discovered several unhappy customers who have also purchased these pets only to discover that they will not work as intended online because the site went down shortly after christmas!

My daughter has now spent £5.00 of her hard earned pocket money on nothing more than a useless cuddly dog. I am very very disappointed as is my child.

I have contacted the manufacturer, MGA entertainment who also make Bratz dolls, but I hope that this post will serve as a warning to anyone who sees these on offer in Tesco. Do not buy them!!

For those unfamiliar with the brand, you buy the pet and it comes with a code, the idea is you input the code into the website for the pets and it opens up a game type site that only pet owners can use. The site supposedly features games etc and you care for your pet online.
The fact you cannot access the site renders the pet just a cuddly toy, and not what its designed to do.

She should take it back to Tesco for a full refund, along with a print out of the screen dump showing the website is no longer active, and some print outs showing other people complaining about the same thing.

If they won't refund, then perhaps a snotty letter will do the trick, accusing them of robbing a child of their pocket money :)
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

The site is unstable at best. It is down for 90% of the time and crashes on code entry. It certainly wont support the play feature that comes with this pet :(

Pinkshoes, she wont return it  Little girls and anything cuddly lol. I think this is one we just chalk up to experience and be thankful she didnt pay £10 for it!

ahh i see well... i would still try to return it to Tesco, although they may not give you a refund due to the fact it isn't Tesco's fault that MGA entertainment cannot maintain their website. It is worth a try though, if your daughter won't take it back i suggest taking it when she's asleep and hiding it lol then taking it back.

Lol, thanks JayJay, but she's 11.... (having a babyish phase I think), so sneaking it off her isnt an option. I gave her the fiver back, so she's happy. Its annoying though when these companies put so much emphasis on the web functions of a toy for them not to work most of the time
