I just saw a disturbing advertisement on TV. Gerber ad said, If you are alive then you can apply. This is just borderline inappropriate. I tried writing or calling to the company via their website which said they have 24/7 support, but every option is the same: We are currently closed. I bought life insurance for my two grandsons, after Covid things became harder so I decided to cut back on few things, I knew there mom and there other grandparents had life insurance so I decided to cancel mine , a month after I canceled, Gerber still went ahead and debt money from my account, they kept sending me the wrong paperwork to fill out , after several, phone calls and communication, until they started taking money from the little cash value that was accumulated from all the years I paid money on these insurances.Gerber Life Insurance Company Response

We apologize for any frustration felt during the cancelation process for your policies. Due to the policies accumulating a cash value, a Surrender Request Form is need in order to surrender the policies. Surrender request forms were sent on 10/10/23; 11/13/2023; 12/28/2023 to the address on file. We will overnight a Surrender request form for you to complete. I'M VERY UPSET RIGHT NOW SO I CAN'T GO INTO THE DETAILS BUT GERBER LIFE HAS DIGITALLY HARASSED ME SINCE I PUT IN MY TWO APPLICATIONS THEY EVEN ACCESSED MY DEBIT CARD WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION TO MAKE A PAYMENT ON THEIR OWN AND I SCREENSHOT EVERY GMAIL (THE PAYMENT DIDN'T GO THROUGH THEN THEY SENT ME A LETTER)Gerber Life Insurance Company Response

The Gerber Life Insurance for Children is a scam. My mother took out a policy on my granddaughter, thinking that she was giving her some savings and a good start to life. My Mom passed away after making payments for 5 years, and the cash value is a fraction of what she paid in premiums. On top of that, they make it extremely difficult to cancel the policy. I’ve been working on this since my Mom passed away 6 months ago. As of now, they’ve kindly given me a completely unsolicited and unrequested ‘loan’ at 8% interest, for premiums that I had no intention of paying and was told I did not need to pay during my first call with their customer service. The payout on the ‘loan’ will further decrease the ridiculously low cash value. Please don’t sign up for this worthless coverage, they are preying on elderly grandparents.Gerber Life Insurance Company Response

The cash value of a Gerber life grow up plan is a scam. I have been paying ***** a month for 5 years. That total comes to ******* but I got the loan amount of ******. This company is a scam and not worth spending the money a month for something like this. This is not a reputable company.Review from Jen C

They operate business like it's 1985 and run on software from 1999. They asked me why I wanted to cancel a plan that had matured decades ago. They couldn't offer alternative options because they truly have none. Their "secure messaging system" is a glorified Microsoft email listserv; as if it didn't already feel dated. They accept digital payments but can't disburse funds digitally. I could go on - please don't bother tying up your funds with this company. Good Day, I am writing to state that my son *** passed away at the age of two from stage 4 cancer on November 7, 2022. We filed a claim and we've had his doctor's as well as the hospitals that cared for him complete and return all of the requested documents. My wife and I also completed said documents. I myself am recovering from a Cerabellar Stroke and my wife cares for our family and was by Gabriel's side around the clock while he was in the hospital. Each time we call Gerber Life we receive different information from the representatives. Either Gerber Life has not received all of the paperwork or we can expect to receive a call from a supervisor. I do not know if it takes three plus months for a policy to be reviewed or finalized? We are just looking for answers or something positive to happen for our family for once in the past three years. I have another policy for my eight year old stepson and since both policies have been opened, I have never missed a premium nor have I been late. We extend our sincere condolences to you and your family and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. The claim was filed was within two years of the Policy issuance, Gerber Life initiated its routine contestability claim review. In connection with our review, we have requested medical records from three facilities so far and have received the records from two. We are in need of additional information regarding the fourth facility. We have sent a letter to you advising in more detail the records requested, received and what we still need to complete the review. There is also a direct contact included for status updates.
