For AuthorsBack to Top

Submission of a paper to the Duke Mathematical Journal acknowledges that the paper is original and is not submitted elsewhere. Authors must make standard copyright assignments once the paper has been accepted.

Authors should submit their papers online using the EditFlow manuscript peer-review system at https://ef.msp.org/submit/duke.  In order to help us create a more level playing field and get a more accurate idea of the relative lengths of submissions, we ask that your submission be typeset in 11-point font using the amslatex class file (or equivalent) with US letter page and standard margins.

               \documentclass[11pt,letterpaper]{amsart}

(Please do not use any of the packages fullpage, geometry, anysize, typearea, koma-script, etc. to override the latex defaults.) If you have done this correctly, the text area should measure 5 in by 8 in (about 12.7 cm by 20.3 cm). Please check this before submitting.

Please be prepared to provide the following when submitting a paper to DMJ:

  • A PDF of the manuscript.
  • 2020 Mathematics Subject Classifications. If there are primary and secondary numbers, please indicate them.
  • An abstract of no more than 300 words. We prefer that the abstract be submitted as part of the paper. Papers written in French should include versions of the abstract in both English and French.
  • At acceptance, a copy of the manuscript in LaTeX2e, as well as all figures, style files, and any other supplemental files needed to process the paper.
  • Grant information for authors where applicable.
  • A running head (a shortened version of the title) of no more than 50 characters, including spaces.

Color figures and images may be used in the online version of the article at no charge. If the use of color is essential for the print version, however, then authors will be required to pay a fee. Contact the DMJ production office at dmj@dukeupress.edu for further information. There are no article processing charges.

Please do not upload a revision of a previously submitted article. Instead, use the status link from an email you will receive at submission. You can also send an email to dmj@math.duke.edu or editflow@msp.org for assistance.
