CMA CGM, P&O Ports sign port concession in Le Havre

CMA CGM and P&O Ports have signed a 36-year concession with the port authority of Le Havre, to equip and operate two container berths and associated yard space as part of the first phase of the “Port 2000” development of the French port.

The new terminal, Terminal de France, will be operational in early 2006 and will have a capacity of 675,000 TEUs a year. Its 700-meter (2,300-foot) quay will be equipped with six “super-post-Panamax” cranes. It will provide deep water draft of 14.5 meters (48 feet) to 16 meters (52 feet).

The joint venture will invest about 100 million euros ($153 million) in equipment, yard surfacing, buildings and associated services.
