Description/achievement of initiative

Over the next year, we intend to complete an assessment of our sustainability performance using the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). We will use the results of this assessment to prepare a comprehensive sustainability plan that includes quantitative targets. STARS will also provide a mechanism for tracking and communicating our progress on sustainability over time.

Implementation methodologies

Alfred State is pleased to sign this declaration and reaffirm its strong commitment to sustainability, as exemplified by our leadership in the American College & Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) and the American Association of Community Colleges' Sustainability Education and Economic Development (SEED) Initiative. Alfred State has recently hired a Chief Sustainability Officer who reports directly to the President. This new position will play a key role in ensuring achievement of our sustainability goals.
