Pros of working at Whataburger

Interacting with the people

Cons of working at Whataburger

The GM would come once week and she loved how the customer's appreciated and loved me. She saw how hard I worked, she told the manager to give me a raise. I worked on holidays whenever someone called in. She knew to call me because I'm the only one to answer my phone on my day off when I've seen the number I work there. 7 months and didn't get a raise. She was fired and I left the job, but I feel unappreciated and it just got overwhelming, cause I'm not a octopus, but after 3 weeks of working there I was a cashier/cook/front counter etc

Pros of working at Whataburger

Most of the Community is kind and open-minded almost never to the point where it becomes counter-productive.

Cons of working at Whataburger

The pay is a bit on the lower end and the scaling process is slow.

Pros of working at Whataburger

I would say the work life balance, I don't have a set schedule and sometimes the hours you get each week varies. If you want more free time to do things outside of work this is the place for you, if you want a job that you can fully rely on getting the same pay each week I would look else where.

Cons of working at Whataburger

The favoritism from management when it comes to employees.

Whataburger Benefits

You always have lunch on your breaks.

Really rude customers. Team members who don't do anything.

Would you recommend working there?

There are some good perks, like weekly pay, lots of hours, half price food, good environment. How busy you are depends on location. I work right off of the highway and this location is very busy. It gets stressful sometimes, but i like working there, i would recommend working there.

If a customer orders something but then says they don't want it anymore, what happens to the food?

(Long time whatab employee here) All of us call dibs on who wants to eat it. Unless the customer has already unwrapped the food. In that case, we throw it away.

I once went to a Tallahassee Whataburger drive -thu and ordered a bacon cheeseburger that took a pretty long time to come out . when I got home I noticed that my burger contained everything but the burger patty . Did someone actually make such a weird mistake or were they messing with me?

I'm a Whataburger employee and I can say I have forgotten meat before. When you go to grab the bottom of the bun, it's in the same general area as the grill, so if you are in a hurry, you feel like you've grabbed the meat simply because you've walked to the grill area.

How do you feel about the recent wave of fast food workers going on strike in support of higher wages and a union?

I'm not really sure what to think about it, i started off at minimum wage and im still moving up, personally, i and most of my coworkers would love to get paid more as fast food jobs in general are hectic and very stressful sometimes Unlike other companies ive heard, ive never seen any anti-union propaganda while working for Whataburger. As for the people on strike, i think if you wanted real change you would have to coordinate thousands or fast food workers to strike and actually send a message.

What do you cheeky people do when I show up at 2 am drunk or high and it's immediately obvious?

If your cool then it usually gives us a good laugh, we know when your high or drunk and usually just acknowledge it to the other employees, just dont be an obnoxious drunk, im cool with people who are baked

I don't know if it's just in Midland, Texas or what, but why does it take so long to get a drive-thru order? (Last time we ate at Whataburger, it was 2am and we sat in the drive-thru for 45 mins)

It really just depends on whose working. Ive had days where we were getting $30 orders out in 4 minutes and other days we were struggling to get a $20 order out in 7. If your crew knows what to do, then it shouldnt be that long. You mentioned however that you were there at 2AM and except on Fridays and Saturdays, the night crews run on 3 to 5 people only, manager included. I have to take the order, get the fries ready, make the drinks and charge the order. And at night too, the cook drops only the meat that they need, so that also takes time too.

1. Do you enjoy working the night shift and having to deal with drunk customers? 2. What does your favorite Whataburger meal consist of? 3. How is the new jalapeo cheddar biscuit?

1. I deal with drunk and high people mostly on Friday and Saturday nights, most people are surprisingly funny and i have a good time at 2 in the morning, for the people who do become rude or unruly, we have security on those days. 2. Patty Melt with extra onions, creamy pepper sauce, bacon and pickles with a large fry and a sweet tea 3. Its really good! Try it when breakfast is first served at 11PM, you'll get the freshest breakfast

Grossest thing you've done / seen someone did to food and then serve to customers? How sanitary is it really back there

The location i work at is very clean, floors are mopped every shift, i personally clean the shake machine every night and occasionally have to scrub the floors. Ive never seen someone intentionally sabotage the food, that alone is a serious crime.

What is the nasty thing that you have seen at work? If you cannot answer that, then give us the rudest customer story.

Haven't really seen anything super gross. Rudest customer, ive had a few but a week ago, i dealt with a guy in the morning that just pissed me off. It was about 5:45AM and i was getting the morning rush. This guy comes and orders a biscuit with egg no cheese. He gets to the window, i tell him the total and he starts *** to me about the price. I ring it up again in a different way and he just tells me "screw you, its too much" and drives off really quick, that guy was a ***
