Hi 

 
I am a citizen of India and I hold a valid work permit in US(H1B) and I am planning to apply for canada visitor visa from within US. Do we have only online option or can we go to the consulate. If it is only online option, when providing my employment verification letter whom should I address. 
 
         Also I am planning to visit canada for my H1B stamping for US in one of the US consulates. If so do I still need an invitation letter?
 
FYI, I am using the following website for the online VISA application submission in which I have a created a MyCIC account. Please let me know if this is the correct website and the application for my visitor VISA to Canada.

Hello i have recently applied canada visa 3 weeks back and i got my visa, here is the process, hope this helps:

 

https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/ (fill ds-160 forms)
https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv (sign up to pay fee and book an appointment date )
 
 
 
Documents to be filled and sent to the VAC are below: 
 
IMM 5484 form
IMM 5257 form(place the bar code form on top of the package) 
IMM 5645 form
IMM 5257 Schedule 1 form
CSC Consent form( 2 copies per applicant)
Appointment letter(visa appointment letter)
Employment letter
I797 or current visa
Paystubs( 6months)
passport
Bank statements
Moneyorder $80 and $37.72 one for consulate general of canada($80) and the other $37.72 money order for CSC consular services inc. sign on the backside of the money order.
Photo(2) 2*2 with name and dob written on back side 
Return envelop 
Send thee whole package to LA :
 
Visa Application Centre – Los Angeles

Thanks for your response. So then the appointment confirmation letter is mandatory?Cant I by pass uploading the invitation letter and still submit the application?  If not then can the US consulate appointment can be any date? would it matter? or should I change the estimated date of travel accordingly based on the appointment date?

You don't need a appt confirmation letter for getting canadian Visa. I just wrote a letter addressed to Visa officer stating the purpose of my trip (for stamping US visa)...There were no issues. They did not ask me anything..You dont have to delay till appt is done..

@Sam77, Good to know if it works that way. So did you get the VISA without any issue? Did you apply online and if so may I know if you had provided the "Bank draft convertible currency" along with bank statements. The bank folks are having trouble understanding that.

 

@Sindhuast, I am still waiting for my current extension of H1B so that I can get my new EAC number. But when you fill out the DS-160 you would need the EAC for which you dont yet have the H1B stamping. Also if I understand you correctly, you dont need to submit the application to get the appoinmtment? I was thinking unless we submit and pay the fee it wont let you choose an appointment date?

Hello Kalyan,

 

So i first applied for my  canada visa and then filed for my h1b ammendment, you have to fill D-160 forms because you use that ds-160 number to book your date, and regarding the EAC question--thats the reason i have asked you not to submit the ds forms until 2 days before your visa interview because, once you get your extension or your ammendment done, you will be having a new WAC/EAC number which you can update it in the DS- forms. The whole point of filling the ds-forms is to get your appointment date thats it, if you have any relatives in canada and can provide you with a invitation letter you dont have to worry about filling the ds forms for applying your canada visa. And yes kalyan you dont need to submit the DS-forms to get the appointment, You just need to start the appilcation so that you could have your ds-160 number again for booking the interview date you will have to give your ds-160 number thats the whole and sole reason thats it. Sorry if its not helpfull. Thank  you

I have filed my application online received information about requesting passport. I have paid $100 fees while applying online application. Do I still need to send $37.72  cashier's check to VAC (Utah) and send passport and requested letter and return label to LA or NY office?

 

Which office have you send your passport?
