I found BambooHR while searching for a solution to bring all our HR tasks and documents into one place. Our small organization was previously relying on multiple spreadsheets, which made tasks unnecessarily time-consuming. We were also transitioning from being 100% in-person to a fully remote workforce spread across the U.S., so we needed a reliable, user-friendly platform that could handle everything from employee data storage to hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and recruiting.
During my research, BambooHR stood out as the clear choice. Not only did it meet all our requirements, but it also aligned perfectly with our organizational culture. The team at BambooHR never pressured us to sign up; instead, they focused on understanding our needs and showing how their product could help.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that I can't imagine managing HR without BambooHR. It has freed up so much of my time, allowing me to focus on more strategic aspects like HR strategy, organizational culture, and employee development—areas that were previously competing for my attention. Our employees love how easy it is to use, especially the self-service features that let them manage their personal information with ease.
We've since added Payroll and recently upgraded to the Pro Package, which includes Total Rewards, Employee Community, and Performance Management. The reporting feature has been a dream, making it easy to generate reports on turnover, eNPS results, time off, and other crucial payroll data.
Customer service at BambooHR is top-notch! I always feel heard and helped in the best way and never feel like I’m bothering anyone. Everyone I’ve interacted with has been quick to respond and incredibly helpful.
Looking ahead, I’m confident that BambooHR will continue to be an integral part of our HR operations, making even the smallest tasks easier. I appreciate how BambooHR is always open to feedback and consistently rolls out updates and improvements. Every time I receive a product update email, I’m excited because I know it means another fabulous enhancement is on the way—one that not only makes my job easier but also positively impacts the entire organization! "Dislike" feels like too strong of a word. There’s nothing about BambooHR that I truly dislike. However, there are a few features that can be a bit frustrating, though they're far from being deal-breakers. For instance, the setup process for signature documents and some of the text fields within the job posting feature could be more intuitive. That said, I’m confident these areas will improve over time. So, while these quirks can be annoying, I don’t hate them, and I’ve learned to work with them. It’s still a vast improvement over our previous setup, where we juggled countless spreadsheets and documents—uploading, downloading, and then uploading again!
Now that we’ve been on the Pro Plan for a while, I do wish BambooHR offered more of an à la carte option. It’s all or nothing, which is unfortunate given the significant price increase. For example, while the Performance Tool is fantastic, our team only uses the Reviews feature consistently, and that’s just once a year. The Goals and 1:1s tools are hit or miss. As a flexible organization, we don’t mandate their use, and some teams prefer other documentation methods. We also never use Employee Community. This was already a question mark when we upgraded, and while I like the idea of sending messages with acknowledgments, we’ve found alternative solutions that fit better with our current setup (like Google Chat). If I had the choice, I’d keep only the Performance Tool and drop Employee Community. Unfortunately, we’re now leaning toward downgrading and going back to Google Docs and Sheets for annual reviews—not ideal, but a reflection of how the value hasn’t matched the cost for us. Rapid efficiency gains – moved us from paper files to searchable, report-ready records, saving ~$11 k in wasted PTO/benefits admin time.
Great feature-to-price balance – the only platform that met our requirements and budget, with a month-to-month contract that reassured leadership.
Robust core tools – custom & canned reporting (turnover, EEOC, benchmarking), onboarding/offboarding task lists, time-off tracking with calendars and automated email alerts, employee files, org chart, and custom fields.
Implementation support & customer service – implementation manager was patient, hands-on, and creative; ongoing support tickets get resolved in reasonable time.
Mobile app for field staff – 70 % of our workforce can request PTO or view info from the jobsite with minimal friction.
Unexpected extras – Slack HR community for peer answers, credential-renewal alerts via custom fields, and upcoming switch to the built-in ATS (saving another $7 k/year). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Benefits carrier integrations – our small insurers don’t connect, and sales couldn’t flag that early; we paid for a month of the add-on we couldn’t use.
Granular access levels are clunky – lots of trial-and-error to grant the right visibility without over-sharing.
Limited employee-survey module – “Employee Satisfaction” lacks the question flexibility we need, so we collect feedback elsewhere.
Time-off policy setup learning curve – unique accrual rules required backend help and several iterations.
Minor login hurdles – mobile SSO via Microsoft trips up crew members who forget their passwords. Not the fault of BambooHR, though.
Despite those bumps, BambooHR has delivered on every core goal we set—and given us a clear roadmap for future HR improvements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
BambooHR is user-friendly for employees, supervisors, and admin users. It has become our main source for employee information and time tracking, performance management, and surveys. Though we have not used the add-ons for payroll or benefits, those are also available. BambooHR is always working on improving existing features and introducing new ones based on customer feedback. They offer a huge selection of partner integrations as well. Customer support is outstanding and just a call, chat, or request away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
BambooHR does not currently have its own scheduling feature. Using an integration for scheduling does not flow 100% from BambooHR to the other system; seems like time off requests submitted in the scheduling system can carry over to BambooHR, BUT this is not ideal if we want employees using BambooHR for everything. Notifications do not exist for certain actions (such as leaving a note on an employee's profile). When creating signature templates, they must be housed on the main Files and cannot be created on an employee's file (which would be helpful if something only applies to that one employee). However, in spite of these issues, BambooHR is excellent and I would still highly recommend it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
BambooHR has been instrumental in streamlining our HR processes by serving as a one-stop platform for all our reporting and HR needs. Having everything in one place—documents, employee records, performance data, and assets—makes it incredibly easy to access and manage information when needed. The system’s structure and usability have significantly improved our efficiency.
In particular, the Hiring Portal has transformed our recruitment efforts, making it easier to attract and secure great talent. Thank you, BambooHR, for providing such a reliable and comprehensive HR solution! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only area for improvement we’ve noticed is that reporting access occasionally drops off. Team members who are assigned specific access sometimes lose those permissions without notice. We’re unsure if this is due to system updates on your end, but it can create a bit of stress when we’re working to tight timelines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform is extremely user-friendly and intuitive. Customer support is a standout—they are quick to respond, easy to work with, and consistently helpful. It’s easy to manage employee data, track PTO, and onboard/offboard employees all in one place. Despite a few hiccups, I wouldn't consider switching platforms. Since recent updates, I’ve noticed more system bugs than usual. One of the biggest concerns has been employee information being deleted upon offboarding—this data should always be retained. I’d also love to see enhancements in the Benefits section, specifically the ability to input and display life insurance costs based on selected coverage amounts so employees understand their payroll deductions better. BambooHR is easy to use, friendly and captures and tracks a lot of HR data for consumers. The implementation videos/support were very helpful and they are very responsive to our implementation and on-going needs. As the HR Director, I found it very helpful in reducing the amount of service vendors that I needed to track vital HR data moving forward. I'm in BambooHR every day, multiple times a day and its great to know that all the important HR data that is being retained there, is confidential. Our agency employees have also appreciated the ease of BambooHR, in relation to time tracking and payroll features. Middle management also have expressed their appreciation for the ease of use in BambooHR for tracking job performance. Overall, I rate BambooHR as a MUST HAVE! As with every new tool or system, it takes a bit to figure out the specifics on what all it does for you. However, the "likes", by far, outweigh the "dislikes". Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The latest change in the Formatting (Font change) gave Bamboo a fresher look. I like the new UI. Easy to use and it feels everything you need to access is at hand when accessing to the homepage. Also , I like the new Bamboo HR Assistant (AI) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Something to improve is the addition of the ability to search for employees by skills or competencies. The available search capabilities in the HR system today are: by name, division, job title Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that almost everything can be customized. This has been so helpful for ensuring we collect all the required HR information while also allowing us to add sections for things like employee favorites and communication preferences—all in one place. I also really like some of the recent updates, especially the AI and Total Rewards features. Setup and implementation are fairly straightforward, and I appreciate how user-friendly the platform is. As HR, I use BambooHR daily, and our team uses it at least weekly to track timesheets and submit time off requests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Currently, BambooHR offers an Employee Community feature that I really like and think could be fantastic to use. However, since we use Microsoft Teams for daily communication, it's a bit challenging to incorporate. I wish there was an integration with Microsoft Teams or a desktop application that could make it easier to use and implement into our day-to-day activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
BambooHR makes day-to-day HR tasks really easy to manage. The interface is clean and intuitive, and it’s simple to find what you need without digging around. I especially like how smooth time-off requests and approvals are, and how everything stays organized automatically. It’s saved our team a lot of back-and-forth. It would be nice if the mobile experience had full feature parity with the desktop version. Not dealbreakers, but noticeable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
BambooHR gives you the ability to provide employees with functionality within the full HR lifecycle. The system is overall easy to use for both admin and end users and very aesthetically pleasing. The onboarding is easy to use, track, and communicate our company's tasks with a new hire. I love being able to create custom workflows and approvals for our company and signature documents make admin tasks easy.
What I love the most is that BBHR is always open to feedback, growing, and implementing change on a regular basis. Customer support is extremely easy to reach via chat, phone, or email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would love for BBHR to integrate with employee navigator for benefits. I would also love to have the app launched for employees to be able to clock in/out onsite. The Geolocation is not working for our workforce. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
