My name is Willie. I don't mean to sound typical, but I do want to express my recent experience. I applied for a line of credit through Regions Bank. I've been a customer for three years. Originally, I was with Bank of America, and a friend of mine told me good things about this bank.
My experience has not been so great. As I said, I applied for a line of credit using my home which I purchased eight years ago. They said I had a little over $200,000 equity in my home. I was asking for a $50,000 line to consolidate some credit cards and make some small upgrades to my home. I received a letter in the mail from the bank denying me. The main reason was cited as serious delinquency. My credit score was great, and I couldn't understand it. You see, recently I applied for a credit card through this bank and received the same document citing serious delinquency. The problem is I'm not seriously delinquent on any of my accounts. My credit report shows I'm in good standing with all my accounts, even with Regions Bank. My house payments, car payments, and all my credit card payments are always on time. None of them show late, but they sent me a letter saying serious delinquency.
They turned me down for a credit card, but every account that I've applied for has accepted me with open arms, from Capital One to Credit One, Home Depot, and all the other major cards. There's nothing on my credit report that shows serious delinquency in anything. I checked; I have more than enough equity in my house to qualify.
I did not even get a counteroffer, just a flat no. I think this bank has a problem with African Americans, seemingly not wanting to lend us money. They're quick to ask you to open an account, but their customer service is lacking. I've decided that I'm going to try another bank, and once I get approved, I'm going to close my account at Regions. This review, I hope, reaches all the prominent African Americans: Regions Bank is not for us. Please look for another bank to do your business with. It seems that once they see the application is from an African American, they automatically turn you down, claiming you are seriously delinquent without pulling your credit.

Regions reversed all my payments with my creditors. They even reversed my Social Security check. It has been very difficult ever since, trying to get my Social Security payments back. Now they think that I'm a fraud. I've been going back and forth to the Social Security office, just trying to verify who I am because of all this. This happened in March, and it's almost the end of May, and still, no payments. This has put a great strain on my life, affecting my rent, creditors, car payments, and everything else. All of this happened simply because Regions failed to verify information with me. Instead, they just blocked and reversed everything from my account. I would not recommend this bank, and I'm closing it out.

They evaded giving me the promotion due to a clause in their terms that they should honestly be informing people about. I didn't fund the first one in time, so I closed the account in May. In December, I received another promotional mailer even though I wasn't eligible to participate. I funded everything on time and inquired about the bonus not posting. In May, they informed me that the initial unsuccessful attempt made me ineligible because it was within a year. Now I'm certain that it was a marketing trick. I'm closing the account and going elsewhere as soon as possible. I fully expect them to send me incredibly tempting offers for the next year to entice me once more. Watch, after a year, all the offers will have disappeared!

I spoke with the supervisor named Elizabeth today, and it seems the region's focus is more about profit than customer needs now. Being charged three NSF fees, even when you make a deposit, is crazy.

I went to the bank today to get change for my business, and while standing there, looking for someone to assist me, nobody seemed willing to serve me. I spoke with the manager, who gave me an excuse, so it seems like nobody at this branch cares.

If I could rate this experience lower than one star, I would. I have visited the branch twice and spoken with four different representatives by phone regarding an $8.00 fee that four of the bank's employees acknowledged was due to an internal error. This fee has been automatically deducted from my account each month since February. As a result, these deductions have caused my account to fall below the minimum required balance. While three of the charges were eventually refunded, a supervisor named Adrianna (employee #7002) informed me that the remaining fee would not be refunded, claiming the issue was due to my error—despite the fact that I have not used my debit card since January and three prior transactions were refunded due to bank error. The only transactions have been these deductions and two deposits. Please note a personal account was not a selection option for the review, but this was a personal account concern.
I initially hoped to build a long-standing, respectful relationship with Regions Bank, but my recent experiences have made that unlikely. I was disconnected during a call and did not receive a follow-up call back. Instead, I was told that it was my responsibility to call back, which is disappointing given the standard of customer service I've experienced at other financial institutions.
While $8 may seem like a small amount, this situation has become about more than the money—it is a matter of principle and the unacceptable level of customer service I have received. If you are seeking a bank that values follow-through, accountability, and professional communication, I would recommend looking elsewhere. My experience with Regions Bank has been deeply frustrating and disheartening.

I just had a frustrating and unprofessional experience with Kelley A. through Regions Bank's online chat. I reached out to ask why I was suddenly being charged a fee on my account—something I've never seen in the months I've had it. Instead of answering my question, Kelley kept repeating that I needed to maintain a certain daily balance, which didn't make sense because I've never had that balance before and was never charged.
When I said it felt like she wasn't listening and asked for a manager, she repeated the same script again. Then, without explanation, she said she'd waive the fee as a "one-time courtesy." I told her I didn't need a courtesy—I needed an actual explanation. Her response? "Be glad that I'm getting the one-time fee waived!"
I asked again for a manager, and suddenly—coincidentally?—the connection failed. I was still connected to everything else, so I doubt it was on my end.
This experience was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. Regions should be ashamed to employ customer service representatives who treat loyal customers this way. If this is how they treat customers, they won't have many left. I'll be posting this review on every platform I can until someone takes responsibility and fixes this.

Hello. This is MyAnh and James Stinson. We have been banking with Regions for over 9 years at the North Mount Juliet branch in Mount Juliet, TN. We also banked on and off in GA before that. We love Regions. We have had problems maintaining money in the bank and have accumulated a lot of fees and overdraft fees. Over a year ago, a gentleman by the name of Alvin Duke came to work at the North Mount Juliet branch in Mount Juliet. He brought peace and order to us. He told us about the opt-out feature and how it could help us. He saved us from online predators. He helped people like us who are terrible at saving money to be better at it. Now we don't have unwanted fees, and we are much happier. He thought about us, the customers, and nothing else. Thank you again, Alvin. Thank you, kind sir. You are much appreciated. Sincerely, Myanh and James Stinson.

Regions Bank is for customers who enjoy having their time wasted. Most staff members at the three branches I've visited are extremely nice and eager to be helpful. Unfortunately, the policies and procedures are set up to force a customer into a branch to have their time blatantly wasted. I'm a relatively new customer. It took over 30 minutes to set up a Zelle transfer and another 30 minutes to try to deposit a cashier's check, only to then wait ten days to get access to your funds. No, thank you. I'm leaving.

Horrible customer service. Their motto is "Do what is right, Put people first, Reach higher, Focus on your customer, Enjoy life." What a joke. Avoid this bank at all costs, especially their SBA program in both the Dallas and Fort Worth market. They are horrible.

The state of Illinois placed a levy on my account and withdrew $98. They reversed the levy and returned the money to my account. Now, Regions Bank is charging me a $100 service fee for the $98 and refuses to refund the service fee. This is how they treat their customers after 13 years of banking with them. I wouldn't recommend them for anything.

Acting as the Power of Attorney for my sister, who is their customer, Regions has been uncooperative, unreasonable, and incompetent at every turn, causing numerous delays, confusion, and stress to a family already in crisis. I have been at this since early January, and there is no end to it at the end of March. This isn't being thorough or overly cautious; it's laziness, incompetence, and, in my judgment, fiduciary malfeasance.
In the initial meeting, they had me sign new documents in their presence, proving I was who I said I was, despite presenting my driver's license and being in person at the meeting. They then screwed that up when, later, their own legal department wouldn't accept their notarized documents I signed in their office. I had to go to another notary to sign again and resubmit. During this time, I was locked out of the banking account I'd been given access to by my sister and could not pay her bills, deposit funds, etc.
I submitted the Power of Attorney in person during the initial meeting that was passed along to the legal department for review, only to find out a MONTH LATER (not because they notified me, but because I kept calling asking about the status) that it was rejected as not to their legal department's liking, despite being prepared by a Tennessee attorney (in the same state where my sister lives and banks), and notarized. We had to get a new one that added a single word, "Durable," to the title, despite it being so stated throughout the document. When I called the attorney's office and explained, they said, "Regions Bank, right? We get this a lot!"
The latest Regions incident involved closing on the sale of a house and attempting to wire the proceeds directly to her Regions account from the Title Company. Regions refused the Title Company's inquiry to confirm she even had an account with them, despite the Title Company having a signed authorization from me as POA to simply transfer a check made out to her for deposit in HER ACCOUNT. Their explanation was, "there are a lot of scams, so we cannot give out confirmations over a phone call." They said, "I could come in and deposit a check." I explained I am in Texas, not Tennessee, "Well, she can come in." SHE'S IN A NURSING HOME!!! I asked if they have a lot of scammers trying to transfer funds from the sale of their customer's house from a Title Company directly into their customer's bank account, located 5 minutes away. Next, they said they have branches in Texas to take the check there. I explained the nearest branch is a 1 1/2 hour drive. They said I could mail it. I explained I have checks and am a signatory, but no deposit slips are included with the checks; could I print off a generic one to fill out. Guess what, "We don't do that, but you can order some." That would take 3-4 weeks to receive. You cannot make this nonsense up.
Being a Power of Attorney for someone is challenging enough, but Regions has managed to cause more problems and stress than all the other institutions, hospitals, doctor's offices combined, and plus needless and unappreciated stress.

I had a personal loan for $1000.00, paid off on February 28th, 2025. I never had a late payment. On the 2nd of March, Regions Bank reported to all three credit reporting agencies a positive account history, but in March, Regions Bank claimed that I was 30 days late on the same account. How is that even possible? I never missed a payment and paid off the account three months early. They constantly lied about the situation. I have all the receipts to prove it. They do not want to take any action. This is the worst bank ever. It makes me feel as if I need to start saving my money in a safe at my house or in my business. The thing that makes it so bad is the fact that they never admit guilt, even when you present the proof. They lied for over two weeks and, to this day, have not fixed this situation. Due to their negligence, my credit score has dropped one hundred and twenty-one points because they falsely claimed my account was 60 days late. I do not recommend this bank to anyone. They are the worst. I will continue to fight with them until they rectify the situation. I am also going to go on all social media platforms and share my experience with anyone that will listen.

Do not, for any reason, bank with Regions. I live paycheck to paycheck. I have had them take $108.00 twice from my account, claiming I was overdrawn past my grace period. They reversed the first $108.00 because they knew they were wrong. Now they've done it again but claim they can't reverse a second one when they are clearly in the wrong. I have screenshots to prove it. I'm utterly disgusted.

Worst bank I've been associated with since the 1980s! STAY AWAY. Many branches are not open on weekends. Most have no client services like notary. Finally, I went through 5 days of verifications to establish external transfers only to be limited by amounts and then had the transfer canceled with no clear explanation.
The region's sole concern is holding onto your money or charging fees for everything possible. They have zero concept of the term "customer service".

No, Regions Bank does not have any student credit cards. But the bank does offer an alternative option, the Regions Explore Visa Credit Card. While this card is not aimed at students, it is available for those with bad credit. However, it is a secured credit card and it requires a deposit of $250. Generally, most student credit cards are aimed at those with fair or limited credit.
Aside from the Regions Explore Visa Credit Card, all Regions Bank credit cards require good and excellent credit for approval. However, students can still get access to Regions Bank credit cards by becoming an authorized user of someone else's Regions Bank card. That way, they'll be able to take advantage of all the card has to offer while establishing credit.
