The
Harley-Davidson® Credit Card is worth considering if you spend a lot of money at Harley dealerships and the company’s online store, along with gas stations, restaurants and hotels. Cardholders earn bonus rewards in those spending categories, and there is no annual fee, so the card is free to own.
You just need to pay the bill in full every month for this card to remain worthwhile. If you don’t, you’ll be charged interest at a high rate, wiping out any savings you get from the card’s rewards. You also have to consider what you might be missing out on if you get the
Harley-Davidson® Credit Card. There are
lots of really good rewards cards on the market right now, and you can’t get them all.
5 Key Things to Know About the Harley-Davidson Credit Card
Pretty good rewards
The Harley-Davidson Visa Credit Card, also known as the HD Card, rewards you with
3 points / $1 spent at Harley dealerships, h-d.com/store, the H-D Museum™, Factory Tours, gas stations and EV charging stations. You also get 2 points / $1 spent at restaurants (including fast food chains and bars), as well as at hotels and other lodging options. That’s in addition to
1 point / $1 spent everywhere else.
Given that 2,500 points get you a $25 Harley-Davidson gift certificate, those earning rates amount to 1% to 3% “cash” back. Those reward rates are solid, but you can save more in most of the bonus categories using other cards.
Good credit or better needed for approval
This Harley-Davidson credit card requires at least good credit for approval, so it’s a good idea to
check your credit score for free on WalletHub before applying. A score of 700 or higher should give you a good chance of getting approved.
If you discover that you’re credit isn’t in good shape, you should consider the
Harley-Davidson Secured Card instead. It’s one of the best secured credit cards on the market.
High APR
The Harley-Davidson Credit Card’s interest rate is higher than average, according to WalletHub’s latest
Credit Card Landscape Report. To avoid wasting money, you should plan to pay your bill in full every month if you decide to get this card.
If you need a card for financing, you should be able to get approved for one of the
best 0% APR credit card offers if you have the good or excellent credit needed to qualify for the HD Visa. So, leave the financing to a specialist and limit the Harley Card to purchases you can pay off by the due date.
No annual fee
The Harley Credit Card is about
$23.75 per year cheaper than the average credit card, thanks to its lack of an annual fee. But if you have good or excellent credit, you’ll be able to get approved for plenty of no annual fee credit cards with superior rewards.
Other ways to rep Harley
Getting a Harley Visa isn’t the only way to express your love of motorcycles. A number of leading credit card companies let you customize your plastic with
an image of your choosing. So find the card with the best terms for your spending and payment habits, and turn it into your very own Harley card (regardless of what it’s actually called) with a picture of your bike.
