TSB bank website and app down for three hours as customers struggle to log in

TSB went down again this morning with some customers unable to login to their online banking or to the mobile app for around three hours.

The bank admitted the problem, but some customers say it's the second time they've been locked out of accounts in just one week.

It came on the day millions are due to be paid benefits, including Universal Credit, ahead of the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Others on social media report that their wages are also due this week.

TSB says the issue is now resolved but was unable to confirm what caused the outage or how many people were affected.

There were 514 reports of issues at the height of the problems this morning on website DownDetector.

Of these, 57 per cent said the problem related to internet banking, while 40 per cent said they'd experiencing issues with mobile banking.

One frustrated customer wrote on Twitter: "@TSB you send me a message asking me to put money in my account because I’m overdrawn (I have money in my savings account) but the app is down for the second time in a week."

Another wrote: "Come on guys. When I read of key workers not being able to transfer money to pay for their lunch, it’s really not on and “Sorry” doesn’t cut it does it?

"It’s utterly shameful. Can you explain EXACTLY what has happened?"

Someone else added: "Can we update online banking so it actually works!!! Second time in a week I can’t log on, sort it."

Another wrote: "@TSB well we all know what T S B stands for don’t we?????

"Not surprising the bank came towards the bottom yet again in 2019 for everything!!!

"In these trying times when people need online access to their accounts it doesn’t work! An absolute disgrace and heads need to roll again!"

Someone else said: "@TSB your internet banking app is down again.

"I get paid tomorrow please tell me this is going to be resolved by then? Honestly becoming a weekly occurrence!"

In a statement TSB said: "TSB customers had intermittent issues accessing internet and mobile banking earlier today.

"This has now been resolved and we apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers affected."

Just yesterday, TSB bosses promised to give bonuses to front line staff dealing with the coronavirus crisis.

The bank is also waiving interest on overdrafts of up to £500.

TSB last year became the first bank to declare a "Fraud Refund Guarantee" when it promised to refund cash stolen from innocent victims by fraudsters.
