Stay away; they do not care about their customers' money. I had a debit taken out by a merchant for $1000, and the bank does not help. I called them to cancel the transaction, and they said to wait until it goes through. It goes through, and now they want me to call and chase the merchant for my money when the bank could have blocked it! So they had me fill out a dispute form, and it's been 4 months. Manager Brittney says that nothing has been done and that I have to start all over again with a dispute. It's the worst bank experience I've had. Stay away; they are careless regarding their customers' needs.

For our real estate needs, my wife and I used LAFCU and were extremely impressed. Real Estate Loan Underwriter Ofelia Arzoumanian was extremely helpful with the underwriting process. She was attentive to our needs and answered all our questions. She walked us through the process every step of the way and kept us informed about the progress.

Worst experience in the over 40 years of using it. Avoid, as it will lock you out for no apparent reason. They almost always deny you any loan unless you are employed by the city and have direct deposit. You can pay off numerous loans on time, but that means nothing to them. Now when you call, you will be forwarded to a foreign country with unknown people with questionable ethics and be forced to provide volumes of private security data that no other bank asks for. Shortly after, your credit will be affected, and identity theft will start, oddly after only one call. They use inexpensive labor to increase profits but at the expense of the customer's security and costs. The CEO and board ignore all complaints and concerns.

Worst company I have ever delt with. I bank with 13 other banks never delt with the bs they have made me go through. Didnt wanna send me tags for a car, asked me to come to a branch wich is like 45 mins away from where i live, once i got there they were like you could email this. Customer service is unhelpful and extremely rude. Charged me a fee to make a payment after being disrespected by customer service. Wouldn't ever trust them with my money again after I refi the new loan. Don't waste yall time and effort with them there are better banks that will show you respect and not pull bs like they do.

LAFCU has poor customer service. I tried to mobile deposit a check which was unsuccessful because I didn’t write a specific statement next to my signature. I was also charged a $10 correction fee. When I called the company and asked if the correction fee could be waived if I redeposited the check again with the specific statement next to my signature, the representative stated she couldn’t help me because “all banks have fees.” When I threatened to empty my account, the representative changed her stance and said she CAN waive the fee. I asked why she didn’t offer to waive the fee in the first place and she didn’t say anything. I’ve been an LAFCU member close to 20 years and I couldn’t believe this is how they treat their members.

I found Los Angeles Credit Union through some close friends of mine and I was struggling to get a loan. It isn’t surprising considering today’s economy but Los Angeles Credit Union really came through. They made the whole process very easy and the representatives were very accommodating. The rates are great, there weren’t any fees and they have excellent customer service. Customer service is huge to me so seeing a credit union with solid customer service is something that warms my heart. I strongly recommend Los Angeles Credit Union to anybody that’s looking for a credit union!

As most other reviewers are saying, the Los Angeles Federal Credit Union has amazing customer service. This for me is number one when it comes to finding and ultimately judging a credit union. When it comes down to business, here is the breakdown: no fees, minimum balance, great interest and loan rates, great mortgage rates. As a heads up, they do hold all checks for 14 days for new members' first 30 days. Their ATMs are fabulous and easy to use, much like Chase's. I have referred several friends and family members here! LAFCU beats nearly any bank or other credit union!

I had new credit, and it was hard for me to get a personal loan. I found Los Angeles Credit Union on the web and saw that I was eligible to join. It was easy, I registered online and completed my application over the phone. The person over the phone was very helpful in making sure my loan would get approved. I felt more confident and prepared because of her. When I went to their branch, most of the staff was friendly and accommodating. I got to speak with Joseph, a representative in the bank. He explained to me the whole process and what my options were. I was able to get my loan right away, and they gave me a pretty good interest rate despite my new credit. I got an account with Los Angeles Federal Credit Union when I was there for school and they handled my student loans for me. great people to work with and the service was really on top of things. My student loans aside (they where a huge mistake) the process went really well with lots of help when I needed it to understand what I had to do in order to get the loan and then repay it. it really was a life saver and I never would have got my BA without these guys and the loan I just wish I had taken less money out and got a part time job instead. I was young and didn’t really understand how bad large loans could stack up on you when you don’t yet have a real income. Still, if you are in need of a loan these guys are a good place to go to get it, just think twice before you take out large loans.

When I lived in Los Angeles the best credit union that I knew about was Los Angeles Federal Credit Union. They were extremely friendly and I could not have been more satisfied with their services provided. They were always short lines and they definitely cared about me as a customer and not just another account. I was so tired of the big banks that made me feel like I was just another number to them. Not with Los Angeles Federal Credit Union. Also, the customer service was fantastic, I had a problem with my account and needed to contact them and it all went smoothly. Having moved from a city in which I used public transportation as my primary means, my truck wasn't the most reliable one. Los Angeles was very different! I needed a reliable vehicle! I had saved up a decent amount of money due to a recent pay increase from a new job, so I decided to buy my first new automobile. The employees at the LAFCU really did care about my business. It wasn't because they wanted to make money off me either. They really tried to get me the best rate and make my first new car experience an enjoyable one. They sure did! My credit was good enough to get me something low and affordable and they explained everything so thoroughly. Great credit union and excellent employees!

I have had some unpleasant banking experiences and so when I moved to L.A. I decided to try credit unions instead. The Los Angeles Federal Credit Union was convenient for me, and I've been very happy with everything about them, so far. They don't fee you to death, and surprise you with new fees every other week, like many of the banks have been doing. The LAFCU has some nice discount programs for some of the major attractions in the area, and their savings and checking programs are simple and effective, without many of the confusing and obfuscatory intricacies that banks have been perpetrating. Why does ANYONE bank with a bank anymore, if a credit union is in the area? If you're a LA resident, get yourself an account with LAFCU, and stop getting hammered by the banks!
