I applied and received an approval for a loan from risecredit.com in 4/2023. I realized a few days later that I had put an old checking account into the application where the funds were to be deposited. I called rise a few days after the loan was already said to have been deposited and told them of my error. I also informed the rep that I no longer needed the funds from the loan and I wanted to cancel the loan. He told me that the my bank would just return the loan funds since the account they were supposed to be deposited into was closed. He told me I didnt need to take any further action because rise would cancel the loan after it was returned. 7/2023 I was still receiving payment notifications for this loan. I contacted rise again and they told me I needed to do a conference call with my bank so they could verify the account on the application was closed and the funds from the loan were returned. I did the conference call and the bank confirmed the account was closed but they had no record of money coming or going from the account because it was closed. The bank rep told rise that the loan funds wouldve automatically been returned since the account was closed. The representative from Rise said she would have to look into this further and contact me at a later time. During this time the payments for this loan were being paid(not by me). I explained this to rise representative that it was extremely weird these payments were being made, and I was not the one paying them. I contacted rise again in January. Whomever was making the payment stopped in December. In January the Rise representative told me that through an internal investigation they had determined that the loan was deposited into another customers account, and the same customer was making the payments from April to December. He said they were working on a resolution with the other customer, and they would be in contact. My loan account should be closed and the other customer responsible for this loan.

Below is a recap of the email I sent to their support email on February 2nd which they never acknowledged with an emailed response.I'm writing today for my extreme displeasure with your handling of my account of which I will be reporting ************** to the Better Business Bureau. On December 14, I was emailed a settlement offer on my account. Pay $428.21 and my account would be closed (a 50% reduction on my balance at the time of $856.42). To do so, I needed to call the *****# or login into My Account and pay the amount. On December 15, I logged into My Account and paid $428.21 and assumed my account would be settled. When I had subsequent phone calls to confirm my account was closed, I had a few conversations with operators who informed me that because I didn't "activate" my settlement offer it wasn't valid. I still don't understand what these means as I was simply going off the instructions of the email sent. Obviously, RISE understood my intent here and I was left to believe that a manager was going to override this for me as it had been "escalated".The last time I called back to see if my account had been closed, I was rudely told that my settlement wasn't processed and there was nothing that could be done and I would still have a remaining balance.I can say that what you have done here is both predatory and unethical. Because RISE doesn't clearly and properly disclose in its email in BIG BOLD LETTERS that an offer needs to be "accepted" first, I, the consumer, gets taken advantage of. You knew EXACTLY what my intent was here to take the offer and to close my account yet bait and switched me to believe that I could. This is a very shameful way of doing business with credit customers and not only will I be reporting you to the BBB, but also recommending your services to NO ONE.Can't wait until this account is paid off and closed and done with.Shame on you RISE Financial!

I called to settle my loan with Rise Credit on 01/25/24. They agreed to a settlement of $2,500.00. $2000.00 to be paid at the same time and an additional $500.00 to be paid 02/08/24. On 02/07/24 I received an email from them stating that my loan had be sold in the full amount to a 3rd party collection agency. Upon calling the supervisor was dumbfounded that coincidentally the SAME day that I called and settled the loan another department somehow sold the loan. I was informed that they would be unable to get my loan back from who they sold it to. SO, they stated the only thing that could be done is that they refund me the $2,000.00 settlement payment that I had already made to them and that it would take 2-4 business days to receive the refund back. Today is day 4 and I still have not received my refund back. When I called in they are now telling me that they were able to buy back my loan and that they are going to settle the account and close my account. I keep getting the run around and dont know what to do at this point.

On November 7, 2023, I requested disclosures and contracts from Rise Credit of **********, LLC (RISE Credit) under the ********************************** Act (GLBA). Despite my explicit request, RISE Credit ignored me. RISE Credit shared my personal information without consent, impacting my well-being and potentially coercing payments on credit extensions.Under 15 U.S. Code 1681(b), RISE Credit shared my private information with credit reporting agencies and nonaffiliated third parties without my consent, affecting my creditworthiness. This is a fraudulent use of personal information, infringing on privacy and fair lending practices. I urge the BBB to swiftly investigate these violations and identity theft complaint and protect consumer privacy. RISE Credit neither sought nor obtained my consent for sharing my information.I file this complaint against RISE for severe privacy rights violations, emphasizing intentional disregard for my request and the financial and emotional harm caused to me by neglecting consumer rights. I have confidence that the BBB will conduct a thorough investigation and quickly address the unjustified violation of my GLBA rights.

A check was sent to RISE to pay my account off. The check was missing my account info, negligence of my bank. I called and informed them they would be receiving the check and just to return it. Instead they cashed the check, and supposedly sent the bank a new check of the amount sent to them, which of course was never received. Everytime I call I get someone telling me to file an escalation and wait 72 hrs and then some BS excuse from them on why I cannot have my money right now. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and most of their employees sound overseas. Other complaints show similar things happening or worse. Someone needs to shut this company down. I will be filing a letter of demand with my laywer for them to return all money owed to me PLUS interest.

In November/December of 2022 I noticed a closed/charged off account (opened in 2017???) with a balance of $3519 on my credit report. I immediately contacted the company directly to dispute this account. I completed an *** report as directed to do so by the company and they determined since some of the information on the *** report matched the fraudulent account information, it was mine. I have been in dispute with this company for nearly a year and within the last month they instructed me to complete a police report. I submitted the police report, and they are still refusing to delete this fraudulent account from my ********************** report.

      Complaint: 20714879

I am rejecting this response because: I have never hired an attorney to handle a debt. I have also never been contacted regarding this debt. This was just found on my credit profile in late 2022. The referenced dates going back to 2017/2018 are irrelevant and was I was never contacted during this time regarding this account. This is a fraudulent account and I have provided all of the documents required by law to have this account removed from my credit report. Also, I will mention this, it seems this company is in the business of wrongfully accusing identity theft victims of knowingly opening accounts with them even after providing FTC reports and police reports to back their claims of fraud. I would like to request that this debt be removed from my credit report as I did not open it nor am I responsible for it.

      Complaint: 20714879

I am rejecting this response because: I provided all documents that was requested and to prove it was not me that opened this account. Again, if you look at several other complaints on this company, you will see this is not the first time of this company wrongfully accusing people of knowingly opening accounts.

Also, the original contract and proof of identity to open the account has never been provided even after asking for it, further proving this account was opened fraudulently.
