Physical Tastecard - Useless at Prezzo
Made a phone booking with Prezzo, Clifford St., York for last evening (6 May), as required, and told them I would be using my Tastecard. No problems thus far, or with the meal.
However, when came the time to pay, I offered my Tastecard (as I have done many times before at this restaurant) but, after a few minutes, the waitress and then the manager came to tell me that their computer system wasn't capable of accepting the card, and I would have to use the app on my phone. They were immovable that this was the case.
Fortunately, I had my phone with me (I don't always) and was eventually able to find the QR code that would work with their systems, but the whole experience spoiled our evening out.
So, three questions:
1. Why has Prezzo updated their computer system so it won't recognise a physical Tastecard, when the previous system always did?
2. Why do you issue physical cards when at least one of your major restaurant chains won't accept them?
3. Shouldn't you advise prospective customers that if they don't have a smartphone with the Tastecard app installed, they probably won't receive the advantages of membership?
