Poor. Big regret using Halifax for our mortgage

Never heard anything from Halifax (we bought our first home 3 months ago) other than a letter to say when our first mortgage payment was due. No “congratulations on your new home” no welcome pack or anything. When I called I was passed around and not given any concrete advice or support. My mortgage advisor Hayley Vellam was excellent. She is truly an asset to Halifax. I went through a mortgage broken first and had a terrible experience. Useless untrained, unprofessional

2 months into our application and still no further than day 1. Delay after delay has been made by Halifax as they are using untrained inexperienced underwriters. Requesting document after document even though they had already received these documents previously. Escalated to their senior management who ignored the escalation and didnt even have the respect to respond. Constantly tried to upsell insurances. Spend 1 and hour hours on phone then give a form to fill in repeating the whole process. We Wouldn't Change From Our Halifax Mortgage

We usually take on a fixed rate as the mortgage continues and we have been very happy over the years (now at 27 with 6 to go - we had a remortgage) they are always very helpful and I wouldn't change from them. Reviewed on: 9th June 2024
