Paylocity is user friendly and allows the client free range to utilize all aspects of the software. Paylocity is great at updating the look and feel as well as the functionality of their different components. Paylocity reps are easily reachable to solve problems and work with. The only area of Paylocity that needs a bit of improvement is the reporting. It seems a bit clunky and either too vague or too robust for the reporting choices. It isn't easy to maneuver if you haven't taken the time to go through the webinars on how to use it and the function of sharing and editing can trip you up too. If you are looking for a payroll software company look elsewhere. Paylocity has a two-year track record with our company of consistent poor communication and the customer service team lacking skill sets to complete very reasonable tasks. It has been beyond a nightmare to work with them and one of the most frustrating aspects of running our business. They are good at contacting you if it is in regards to upsell however, when I try to get a hold of a supervisor to resolve an issue, I get a kickback email saying that that supervisor is out of the office for the next two months. I use Paylocity throughout the day every single day of the work week. I value how intuitive the user interace is. It is relatively straightforward to locate features I need. It is not clunky, laggy, or cluttered looking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Customer support at Paylocity is outstanding for resonsiveness, however, I do have issues with their efficency at problem solving. It often takes weeks if not months to resolve an issue from beginning to end. I also find it frustating to see modules rolled out to customers that still have a large amount of internal bugs and issues. EX: Workflows Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Paylocity seems like they haven't quite figured out how to customize their platform to different company needs. The platform is user friendly. Implementation was super easy. They listen to new ideas and are constantly updating the platform with new features and offerings. At times there are issues within the system that cause widespread problems. These take longer to correct than they should. Communication to users when these are identified would be helpful instead of finding out "by accident". Training for new users could be better than "Read this PEAK article". There are multiple steps within the system that cross sections and the articles don't always capture that. Also - the articles are not as up to date as the system is. We had a rocky start up with some Paylocity staff turnover right around the time when we were about to due our implementation. Due to this, it took a bit longer to understand how the system worked and it was a difficult transition ensuring everything had been set up correctly. However, after a rocky start, once the system was downloaded successfully, things have been running smoothly without any major hiccupps. Requested that W2s for employees who received 3PSP not be adjusted. I was told by my acct manager on January 30, 2025 that an adjustment was not in process nor would an adjustment be done. On a zoom call with my acct manager to address a separate issue, I saw that a W2 adjustment had been done on the 3PSP employees. I requested that the adjustment be undone, or removed, and was told they would escalate the issue as it would cause tax issues for employees. This occurred on 2/12/2025. This issue had to be excalated numerous times, finally by the President/CEO of my company, and on 3/14/2025 I finally got to speak with a PCTY rep who assisted me with this issue. During that conversation, I got the impression the issue I requested be resolved on 2/12/2025 was not put in correctly by the acct manager, as the information pertaining to my issue was not what the new PCTY rep thought needed to be done. PCTY rep thought that W2 and 941 correction was needed on one employee, not all 3PSP affected employees, and was unaware that the 3PSP adjustment needed to be corrected for all affected employees. This caused all affected employees quite a bit of irritation and lack of trust in PCTY.
On 2/25/2025 I initiated a service request for a reporting error. My acct manager sent notification they had passed it on to the correct department, however over a month passed with no further communication. I reached back out to Service on 4/4/2025 stating that the Service request was completely removed from the Client Hub and that I had not received any communication on this issue. This was my second follow up to Service. The next day, the service request was showing up in the Client Hub and I had an email requesting additional information.
On 2/4/2025 I emailed Service to ask if I could use Events for what our company was needing to track, and explained what I was needing to use it for if at all possible. I received a response on 3/5/2025 that I could not use Events for the purpose I was asking about. Since a month had passed since I contacted Service about this, our company had already explored other avenues and found a solution not within Paylocity.
Ultimately, I am dissatisfied with Service and the amount of time it takes to get Service requests completed. I've also noticed a lack of response when I send emails to Service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The support we receive from the Paylocity team assigned to our account should be the example for any company that offers support for their companies. Converting 75 plus clients without the Paylocity support team assigned to us has gone a long way to the success of our conversion process.

The dislike I will mention is lack of communication between Paylocity and us as the remarketer. There have been times when there is an update to the software, a feature that has been disabled and we have not received notification this was going to happen. Example: The ability to connect new clients bank accounts via: Plaid has been disabled without notification or a reason given. The personnel are friendly, attentive and always available to help. The ease of end of year tax filings is great and they always are on top of our state statutes for payroll and payroll taxes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not like the new procedure to run payroll, I have hourly employees with tips and commissions and it is way too hard to navigate. I am dreading when I am forced to use the new system and I know I will have to call for help and frankly have a very busy schedule and after using your service for 3 years I am saddened I have to change the procedure.
