Making payments and deposits

We often receive questions from our clients about how they can add to or increase their investments with us. When the opportunity presents itself to you, we have several options.

1. Mail a cheque

You can mail a personal cheque to our local office, payable to ScotiaMcLeod.  Depending on the size of the cheque and if you don’t feel comfortable mailing it, you can pop into any Scotiabank branch and ask them to interoffice mail it to us. They’ll know what to do, and we will confirm with you as soon as we’ve received it.

Please include one of our names on the envelope.

Envelope address example:
ScotiaMcLeod
Att. Tammy Jackson
Transit #07096
London Branch

2. Online bill payment

You can set up ScotiaMcLeod up as a bill payment account receiver. Depending on your banking institution you use to do this, we recommend searching for ScotiaMcLeod, Scotia Capital or Scotia Wealth Management.

Do not choose Scotia Direct Investing or Itrade.

Once you’ve assigned ScotiaMcLeod to receive the payment, please enter you account number with ScotiaMcLeod. Again depending on banking institution this field will take 8 or 10 digits.  If 8 leave off the end two numbers.

Note: You can not contribute directly to an RESP this way as the system does not code it correctly.

**if processing an online money transfer please send one of us a quick email to let us know, we will watch for the transfer make sure it’s correct and will email to confirm we received it.

3. Scotiabank direct deposit

If you bank with Scotiabank, this is the only institution we can have you sign a direct debit agreement.  By signing one of these forms and having it on file prior to when you wish to send your money it gives us the authorization to pull the funds directly from your Scotiabank account.  We can ONLY credit NON-REGISTERED ScotiaMcLeod accounts.  Once the funds are here if you wish it to be a RRSP/RESP/TFSA contribution please let us know and we can process it manually.

Once the office is open and back in operation you may stop by the office to drop off a CHEQUE to us.

4. Certified draft cheque

DRAFT CHEQUE from your banking institution – these are tricky and not well accepted by our office unless you obtain the correct back up information on a ScotiaMcLeod form called a CA88 – Source of Funds Confirmation.  If this is your only option and the your bank is advising this is the best way you must have the institution you are getting the draft from complete and sign this Source of Funds form.  This form must accompany the draft when given to us for deposit or we will not be able to deposit the funds.
