Halton Catholic District School Board becomes an increasingly diverse Catholic Community. Notably, we have students, staff, and parents who are a part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

To support our fellow community members, please sign this petition to show your support in Flying the Flag with Pride during the Pride Month, June as well as each class of each HCDSB school having a Safe-Space poster. These actions are a visual and symbolic reminder that the HCDSB community members have a visual reminder knowing that they are supported in our Catholic Community.

Recently, a delegation has spoken about how 75.2% of students feel that 2SLGBTQ+ students are not fully supported in one of our HCDSB schools. We need to change that, and this motion can help to show our inclusive and unconditional love that Christ has preached to us.

Catholic School Boards such as Waterloo Catholic District School Board already shows their support of the community during Pride Month, and Halton Catholic should as well as our Policy II-45 Equity and Inclusive Education states, “The Board recognizes that any form of social or cultural discrimination is incompatible with Catholic moral principles and is in violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code”. Help HCDSB to practice what we preach and sign this petition to create a safer and more compassionate community.
