Hundreds of MTS customers in south Winnipeg may have had their phone, Internet and television services affected after city multiple underground MTS cables were cut on Saturday. MTS said the cables were cut during work to repair a City of Winnipeg water main break.

Fewer than 1,000 customers in Fort Rouge and Fort Garry may have had their services affected, MTS said in a news release.

“MTS crews have been working in adverse conditions yesterday and overnight to restore service,” said the release.

MTS was able to re-route most major fiber-based services, but the company doesn’t know when full service will be restored. MTS Wireless services were not impacted by the cut, with the exception of one CDMA cell site.
