Please read these common questions about Nintendo Network IDs before contacting Nintendo.

  • What is a Nintendo Network ID?

    A Nintendo Network ID is used to access various online features on the Wii U console or a system in the Nintendo 3DS family. Currently, you can create a Nintendo Network ID using either a Wii U console or a system in the Nintendo 3DS family.

    A Nintendo Account is different from a Nintendo Network ID. A Nintendo Account is used for some applications and services on Nintendo Switch, smart devices and personal computers.

  • I forgot my Nintendo Network ID. What should I do?

    You can check your Nintendo Network ID on a game system using one of the following methods.

    On a Wii U console:
    Tap the Mii character on the top left corner of the Wii U Menu. The Nintendo Network ID will be shown on the User Settings screen.

    On a linked system in the Nintendo 3DS family:
    From the HOME Menu, tap System Settings, and then tap Nintendo Network ID Settings. The Nintendo Network ID will be displayed on the top screen.

  • Which password do I need to use to access Nintendo Network services?

    You need to use the password that you registered when you created your Nintendo Network ID.

  • I forgot my password. What should I do?

    Please use the link below to have a temporary password issued to you.
    The temporary password will be sent to the e-mail address registered to your Nintendo Network ID.

  • What is "Remember Me"?

    If you check the Remember Me option, the device you are using will remain signed in to Nintendo Network for up to a month—during this time, you will not have to sign in with your ID and password.

    If you are using a device that is shared with others, please uncheck this option.

  • Will this service work on my browser?

    It should. However, please note that we cannot guarantee this service will be compatible with all browsers. If the service is not appearing correctly, please try the following solutions:

    ・ Update your browser to the latest version.

    ・ Use the default browser for your device.

    ・ Check whether cookies or JavaScript have been disabled on your browser. If they have been disabled, enable them.

  • Will this service work on my mobile phone?

    A mobile-phone application is not currently available. However, please note that this service can be accessed via a smartphone's Internet browser.

  • I was informed that my e-mail address has not yet been confirmed. What should I do?

    You can confirm your e-mail address by following the instructions enclosed in the confirmation e-mail that was sent to you when you created your Nintendo Network ID. If you are unable to locate this e-mail, you can request a new one in the following ways:

    On a linked Wii U console:
    Open the user-selection screen, sign in using your ID, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

    On a linked system in the Nintendo 3DS family:
    Open System Settings, and then Nintendo Network ID Settings. Sign in using your ID, select E-mail Confirmation, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

  • I can't access Nintendo Network services from a non-Nintendo device. What should I do?

    Use of Miiverse on non-Nintendo devices such as PCs and smartphones can be enabled for an ID by following the steps listed below:

    On a linked Wii U console:
    1. From the Wii U Menu, tap the Mii in the top left corner.

    2. Next, tap Change User Information, then enter your password.

    3. Under Usage from PCs and Other Devices, tap Set Up, then follow the instructions on the screen.

    On a linked system in the Nintendo 3DS family:
    1. Go to System Settings, and tap Nintendo Network ID Settings.

    2. If the sign-in screen displays, tap Sign In and enter the password for that user's ID.

    3. Tap Non-Nintendo Device Setting, and then tap the option that reflects your preference, be it to restrict or to allow access from PCs and other devices.

  • How do I control third-party access to my information?

    Your Nintendo Network ID can be used to access third-party services, which may require access to your basic profile information. Before any such service can be used, you must authorize Nintendo to share your information with it.
    Details regarding what information a third-party service requires will be shown on the authorization screen for that service. An authorization screen will be displayed for any such service before you use it.
