Yahoo is removing one major roadblock that may have prevented people from signing up for its Fantasy Sports service: the need for a Yahoo email address.

The search company on Tuesday announced you can now register for Fantasy Sports, like Tourney Pick'em, with any email address, which should be a welcome change for those who don't feel like creating yet another email.

Yahoo Senior Product Manager Assaf Kremer argued that it "just doesn't make sense" to require a Yahoo email that users will "probably forget" soon after creating it, leading them to miss important emails about the status of picks and pools.

"We want to make it as delightful as possible for users to sign up, sign in, and stay signed in because this lets us deliver the best possible experience," Kremer wrote.

Look for the option to roll out to other Yahoo products soon, he said.

The news comes after Yahoo inked a deal with the National Hockey League to livestream some of its out-of-market hockey games, Variety reports. The streams kick off on March 11 and hockey fans can expect up to four games per week on the platform, as well as shows with clips and highlights.
