I
received my diploma from this on-line sewing college program with a breeze. I took the program called
Sewing and Dress Making. This online sewing program consists of five
modules that take you step-by-step through techniques and skills
you will need to sew your own clothes, and sew items for the home. The
course even touched on craft and quilt making. It begins with Introduction to
Sewing and leads you right into reading patterns, pattern lay-out,
creating seams, stitches, and simple pattern alterations. The program also
covers fibers and fabrics, the sewing machine, and both basic and advance
dress making skills.
This course was more of
a refresher for me since I took this course after I took the one from
Penn Foster. What I enjoyed more about this
course than I did Penn Foster, was that it also introduced you to other
areas of sewing like: window treatments, slip-cover, holiday items,
quilts, crafts, toys and resort wear.
If you are brand new to sewing
and you want to learn everything, I highly suggest this program. It starts
you from the beginning, covering silhouettes, and fabrics and fibers, and
takes you all the way through to completion. It took me almost two years
to complete the online sewing and dressmaking course but keep in mind, I
took it as a review and I was in no hurry to complete it. I'm sure the
average person spending more time a week on it then I did could complete
it in eight or nine months.
All of the books, sample
patterns, and notes that came with this online sewing program became a
nice addition to my sewing library in our studio.
