UTEP President Heather Wilson and EPCC President William Serrata signed the updated memorandum of understanding Monday.

The agreement aims at improving the transfer, admissions and financial aid processes for students transferring from EPCC to UTEP, stated the news release.

“Earning a bachelor’s degree opens opportunities that are life changing,” Wilson said. “The partnership between UTEP and EPCC has been a model for the country. This updated agreement further improves our ability to provide access to exceptional higher education.”

Previously, UTEP’s College of Liberal Arts facilitated curriculum changes for the transfer credits from EPCC for a Bachelor of Arts.

The university will have a team that will help EPCC students come up with a degree plan for business, engineering, education and health sciences.

UTEP is also awarding scholarships for students who transfer from EPCC.

In the past decade, more than 70 percent of students who obtained an undergraduate degree from UTEP had earned transfer credit from EPCC.
