Hello, I have been a customer for a while. Whenever I call, I never feel a positive customer experience. It seems like everyone hates their job. When I called, I just wanted to know if my payment arrangement was taken care of. The representative placed me on hold for a while to review. It seems he was confused that my arrangements were already set. It was simple; all he had to do was clarify that the previous payment had been made.
I did not need him to get back on the line if he was not understanding the reason for this call, when I was not settling it at that moment. Well, if you would have looked closely, you would have seen I was already set up. But you were being so passive-aggressive you were not able to even realize that. Yes, I did express my frustration on the line because that attitude is unnecessary when people call. No, customers are not always right. But you have to give respect to get it. I have a right to call as a homeowner making sure I am staying on top of my account. I always call in to stay organized.
Furthermore, if someone asks for a supervisor, you don't continue to be combative. This only escalates the situation. The customer obviously does not want to speak to you, especially if the call has been confrontational from the beginning. I would like to be contacted by a head supervisor. My name is Shalee Goodman.

I wish I could give this company negative stars… cannot wait to refinance to get away from this dumpster fire of a company. You might have better luck if you handle your own escrow account. They double paid my taxes and then sent me the bill for it 3 months later. After looking into it and doing their job they finally noticed that they got a refund from the county for the second payment but conveniently forgot about it until I got it confirmed with the county. No body at this place knows how to use a calculator and have sent us multiple escrow shortage letters each time with a different anoint when I called to complain. Just honestly worthless and if you have the choice to stay away. STAY AWAY!

To clarify, I was the one who called the county and investigated the whole issue because when I first called they said “your hazard insurance went up that’s why you have a $8,000 escrow shortage”. Absolutely ridiculous.

They paid my premium twice, once to a company I canceled, then upped my mortgage by $450 because I'm short on escrow! Was supposed to be done paying the short escrow next month so my payment can go back down to 2700 but apparently I'm short again....they want over 3k for the next year and after that they've upped my mortgage to almost 2900! Who is making up these rules? They screw me over, then make it my fault and continue to screw me over! Biggest joke of my life they bought my mortgage....ive got to get away from them quick before they make me loose my home!

I will be honest, my wife and I were terrified when we found out our mortgage was sold to Amerihome because of all the bad reviews we had seen. Once the takeover was complete, we noticed that a payment for our property tax had not been made yet. I gave them a call the next day, and within a week, their website showed that an escrow payment was made, and when I checked with the township, they confirmed it was received. Also, during the transition period, one of my additional principal payments did not go through because it was made during the transition period. It did take two phone calls to both the old loan company and Amerihome to resolve, but it was processed.
I will add that this is the fourth mortgage company that I am dealing with (two for a mortgage on another property and two with this mortgage), and Amerihome's website is pretty easy to navigate, and it provides a lot of information that the others did not have (escrow payments, year-to-date payments, etc.). I am not the type that usually writes reviews, but I feel that an honest review will help other homeowners who have their mortgage bought by Amerihome to have some sense of relief that it's not all bad with this company. I will caveat that I am only four months in with them, so we will see if this rating holds up or if I will need to update in the future.

They are annoying to work with. They won't listen when it comes to property tax issues when the county accidentally sends the wrong amount first.

They have been very easy to work with. The loan process was quick and the paperwork was clearly marked. They have very good customer service.
This is the worst mortgage company. They are in charge of our escrow and pay our property tax and when our tax jumps from 4k to 16k, instead of questioning it they paid it and made us pay it. Lucky we check and found out the tax was for the whole building and not our unit: but instead of fixing it they want us to fix it. Worthless company do not use.

Everything started out great with AmeriHome Mortgage. Easy to navigate their website and monitor the mortgage. Then I received a letter from my insurance company stating that I did not pay my Wind Insurance premium. I contacted AmeriHome immediately and let them know that the Wind Insurance was not paid from escrow. The agent on the phone told me that “Wind Insurance was not needed for my mortgage. Only Flood Insurance and Homeowners Insurance was necessary.” I contacted my insurance company and passed along that information. Around mid-June 2023 I received a letter from AmeriHome stating that my Wind Insurance policy has not been updated, I called them immediately and went through the entire story about being told I didn’t need a Wind policy. They didn’t apologize for any confusion but told me I needed to get a policy before Aug 30, 2023. I called my insurance company and asked them to reinstate my Wind policy. They couldn’t. They told me I need to get a new policy and have all the wind mitigation inspections done all over again. All of which cost me an extra $1400. After coordinating all of that I received and paid the policy (which went up $1,700) before Aug 30 and uploaded the documents to their portal. Beginning of September, I logged into my AmeriHome account and see that a $2,152 is taken form my escrow to pay a Wind policy. I immediately called and told AmeriHome that I already paid the policy, and they told me that the payment was made for the lapse in coverage from June-Sep 2023. So not only did they lie, which cost me an additional $3,100, now they are stealing $2,100 from my escrow account. Avoid AmeriHome if you can!

I worked with Better Mortgage to get a mortgage on my house, which was then sold to Amerihome. Amerihome has been an absolute nightmare to work with. I am attempting to short plat the property, which is a left/right mirror image duplex, into two parcels, which will not release any collateral for this loan. The appraisals came back that the property was worth 20% more when short platted. Amerihome rejected the short plat application, saying that I needed to refinance as it was a multifamily home. This makes no sense to me, as the property is already financed as a multifamily home. Furthermore, I spoke with Amerihome before starting this process and they said they didn't see any reason upfront why it wouldn't be worth trying to get the short plat approved. Now I have spent just under $5k to get the survey and appraisals done for the short plat, 10 months of back and forth with Amerihome, and they won't even get me someone on the team in charge of making these decisions on the phone. The best they will do is take my number down and give me a call back, which normally takes about 3 weeks and has always come at an inopportune time. If you can avoid borrowing money from Amerihome, don't.

I put on automatic payments and every month they dispute the charge. Everytime I call its a different story. One month it got out of hand when the put a missed payment on my credit. They said they will fix it and after a certain period of time they said we can do anything. I dont recommend them!

Amerihome is the WORST mortgage company that I have ever done business with. My husband and I are veterans and Amerihome requires us to resubmit our disability tax exemption information every year and then we are billed taxes we shouldn't be paying and it took over 4 months for them to resolve it last year. This time we are going through it, we are given the run around and told different completion dates every time we call. They are unprofessional, dishonest and I'm honestly not sure how they're still in business.

I sent a check in with a memo DEPOSIT ESCROW ACCOUNT ONLY, put piece of white paper over it with same memo twice, so I have to assume employees can’t read, don’t understand instructions or just do whatever the crap they want. I feel they stole my money and spent it the way they wanted. This was on 2/22/2023, March mortgage was not due and it automatically comes out of my checking account monthly. The paid the March payment, put balance I. Principal. I have talked with four people and none know what they are doing.

From day one, my experience with Amerihome has been difficult, frustrating, and a lack of competency at their initial interface level. I am 100% disabled mil vet. When I was apply to get my taxes removed, it took 6 months because Amerihome would not recognize the 100% disability. I sent them notes and emails from the County tax folks to no avial. Finally, I coordinated a 3 way call between Amerihome and the County tax folks to get it resolved - 6 months. I am now doing my Estate planning, and want to transfer the mortgage / home into my Living Trust. I just want to make sure they don't "call" the loan. I am told that I need to request permission (despite the federal law that states this is an approved action and cannot be denied). I hate this company -- Never again, in my lifetime of buying homes, will I allow my broker to work with this company.

I paid my Jan 2023 home loan, to the original lien holder, before I was notified that my loan was sold to AmeriHome Mortgage. The payment had not been posted. I called the original lender who gave me the FEDEX tracking number where they had sent AmeriHome the payment. Amerihome signed for it 12-27-2022. The first customer service rep, at Amerihome told me that they did not have it, and that I would need to get information that proved I sent it. I had already provided the FEDEX tracking number (which I looked up) and asked to speak to a supervisor. She told me she had to get permission to transfer me. I am the customer who you have told the burden of prove is on me, I am giving you permission. Your company has had my payment for almost 60 days! When I was finally transferred the Supervisor told me she would fill out a form to try and locate it. I asked if I would be called back and was told I could go online to my account and see if it was posted. We are talking about a mortgage payment not a bottle of water, this has me concerned, it is money I cannot afford to locate. And they did NOT CARE! I called my original lien holder back, and their rep took it upon herself to contact her contact at AmeriHome and by 5 pm same day SHE worked it out, and I would get the payment applied. A rep from another company cared enough to help me. Because Amerihome's rep could have cared less!

Only had my mortgage less than a year and already getting a runaround regarding escrow adjustment based on being a disabled veteran who is 100% exempt from taxes. County commissioner provided a letter with a retroactive 100% tax exemption and AmeriHome refuses to honor it even after the county tax office verified it by phone as well. Deliberate obstinance that I can see is going to require a Congressman's intervention, FTC, or CFPB.

STAY AWAY. If there's an issue with your payment ever, you're screwed. We are LIVID. Returned payments, "lost" cashier's check, OUR money posted to SOMEONE ELSE'S ACCOUNT. Every single time we call we get someone who seems to have no clue what's happening, telling us yet another thing we have to do to fix it even though again they credited someone else's mortgage with OUR payment. I'd give a zero if I could. Our problem started in November and we are still dealing with the incompetence of this company at the end of January. Never again. Never recommending.
