Worst Insurance ever. I highly recommend that everyone avoid this insurance if you require any medical care at all. They have inadequate customer service, and they never receive faxes, even though they are confirmed as sent. You have to submit everything at least twice, and don't bother calling them; you will get a person who has no idea what they are doing.

Total scam. Dad couldn't get dentures because of WellCare. None of the dentist offices recognized WellCare as health insurance. Mom couldn't get her wheelchair or physical therapy. Both parents couldn't get their glasses all because WellCare is a scam. Oh yeah, and don't forget the food card that you're lured into getting if you do the phone health check. One hundred dollars on a card that takes three months to get - except you never receive it.
WellCare must be a scam. We switched to Humana. I hope WellCare goes under.

I was calling regarding the assistance provided for food and other expenses. I was told to enroll in the WellCare PPO Give Back program. They promised I would receive $77 a month back, in addition to over-the-counter benefits, gym membership, eyeglass prescriptions, and free doctor's visits. I asked several times if all of this was free, and they confirmed it was.
However, when I went to collect my prescriptions for the first time, I was charged over $100. I decided to disenroll from WellCare, which proved to be a challenging process. Thankfully, with the support of Anna M, an advocate for seniors, I was able to disenroll without difficulty.
Now, to restore my former prescription benefits, I need a letter confirming that I have been disenrolled from their medical program, which has been taking a considerable amount of time. Their lack of assistance has been frustrating. I regret thinking this would be better than regular Medicare since it significantly hindered my medical coverage. In addition, they did not cover the necessary treatment I required following recent cataract surgery, including injections to address bleeding behind my eye.
The customer service has been appalling; they misled me and treated me poorly. This program might be suitable for someone on Medicaid but not for someone like me on Medicare. My experience was nothing short of horrific, and I am relieved to be disenrolled. I am now just waiting for my letter so I can collect my medications that have been ready at the pharmacy for over a week. It's critical for me to have them and I doubt they care. I am extremely disappointed; it seems it's just a business aimed at making money.

Be careful with the rewards program! I was due a $20 and $50 gift card to Walmart, but when I checked, the available funds showed a zero balance on the gift card. Keep in mind, I live in Arizona, but the transactions were done in Texas. Since there is a zero balance, they are unable to reissue the gift card and won't send a new one; instead, they gave me Walmart's number to pass the buck. The rewards program is useless, so if you decide to participate, then before you use a gift card, CHECK THE BALANCE, or when you get up to the counter, make sure to have funds in your bank or credit card because you will most likely need them.

We have had nothing but problems getting our prescriptions. Common sense is out the door.
My wife recently changed her diabetes medicine to Jardiance. Her doctor sent in the prescription to our local pharmacy and it was filled with no problem. Then that was for 30 days to make sure she tolerated it. A new prescription was written by the doctor at the end of November for 90 days and sent to Express Scripts. About five days go by and she gets an email indicating the prescription was denied. Then we had to call and find out why; they said she needed prior approval.
We explained that she had already received one month's supply and didn't need authorization at that time. After 1.5 hours on customer service, they provided an authorization form for the doctor to fill out. That was done in one day, but with no more communication from WellCare / ES, she logs on and finds that it is still denied. Now it is four days until she needs her next injection, and nobody would tell her what exactly needs to happen to get her meds on time.
She tells them we need it expedited to get to her on time. This call was 1.5 hours. Now, on the day she needs it, she logs on to WellCare and sees it is approved, but Express Scripts does not show it shipped. Well, now it is Saturday, two days past when she needed it, and nothing. Another call to WellCare and first they said it was not approved, and after some checking, they said it was approved but they have not received a new prescription from the doctor.
We have no idea what they are talking about. A prescription started this whole process and now they need another! So it is Saturday and the doctor will not be available until Monday, and who knows how long it will take to get to us.

I have been trying to access the web portal for over a month to review my profile information. I am unable to access any information. I have written countless emails and spoken to customer service, which has been unsatisfactory. I have also written to the CEO, yet there is no resolution. If you have any issues, write to the CEO:
The customer service department is terrible. The calls go to the Philippines, and the cultural differences are a significant barrier to your satisfaction as an American. The representatives replace competence with courtesy. They are overly courteous to compensate for their lack of knowledge, which is something I've learned to expect from any customer service department 10,000 miles away. They're no doubt instructed to behave like this because the heads of these companies that outsource these departments mandate that it is done. They think they can pacify people with this sort of behavior when in reality the representatives are not knowledgeable. However, they can't placate this writer. You must inform the person 10,000 miles away that you want to speak to someone in the United States. And when they transfer you to a representative in the United States, that representative may live on the other side of the country or in a different state. Sometimes you have to call repeatedly and ask for an American representative to find someone competent, concerned, and caring. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
The provider lists often give outdated telephone numbers. Sometimes the telephone numbers lead to a medical facility that has nothing to do with the medical specialty you've looked up on the Wellcare website. For example, you may specify Pulmonary and get Obstetrics instead. There are several ways to search for the same thing on the website, and one way may yield three hits, and another way may give you 200 hits. The problem is, if you don't realize there's another method to search, you may give up, thinking that there are only three doctors or clinics for the specialty you're searching for. There are many duplicates as well, so if your search yields 300 hits, in reality, it may only be 80 or 90 unique results. I believe these duplicates are intentionally placed to make it appear there are more doctors or centers than there actually are. Wellcare is great—as long as you're healthy and not in need of quality medical care. Straight Medicare is far better.

Horrific experience they've messed things up badly. When you call, they simply transfer you in a loop (this can go on for hours) and you will not get anything resolved. You will need to contact an authority to step in on your behalf to deal with any issue because they either can't or won't help when a regular customer calls. Today I went to pay online as they told me to do last week, I had to again call them, and they told me the website is down for 15 days! That should tell you something. Beware... if I could give a zero-star rating, I would.

They say men can use it to get gas, so I went to get gas, and it would not let me get gas. In my opinion, the card needs to have a chip on it.

Every time I try to log in, the site says "Attempt was not successful, please try again." I tried to reset my password and username, but it would say unsuccessful. Customer service is terrible. The first customer service agent told me I would have to wait until the first of the year to log in. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She rolled out the same line I get from Wellcare, "We are updating our system and to try again later that day or the next day." I've gotten this line before. When you call back, it starts all over. How in America can this kind of stuff keep going? Good luck.

Customer Service is a joke! They're uneducated, unskilled filipinos who don't know how to solve even minor issues. I remember once I had to spell my name at least 6 times before the woman on the other end finally got it. The company itself is highly shady.

Pathetic customer service outsourced to India! They read from a script, know nothing, and remain placid and pleasant. At least they are inexpensive for Wellcare. All you will receive from them is a pleasant welcome and goodbye. Don't waste your time!

it's HE!! trying to get to talk to a HUMAN, and even when you do, the person knows NOTHING - they can't tell you a GADDAM THING about whatever it is you're calling about. AND - from what i can tell so far - that "SPENDABLES" card is BS - just like that shetty "FLEX" card they gave out last year - it's not good for ANYTHING. they CLAIMED it'd be good for things like dental, and you're supposed to have all this 1200.00 for dental and all that LYING BS. ALSO - LOTS of doctors quit taking WELLCARE, so THOUSANDS (or more) are having to change to another company. Anthem seems to be a good choice, and maybe they'd actually do what they SAY and their "CARDS" may work AS THE CLAIM - who knows. it's just sad to have to go through so much BS just to get a TINY LITTLE BIT of medical coverage. makes me sick...

My husband and I signed up for Wellcare Prescription Drug Program and we have nothing but problems with Wellcare. They list their contact number but when you call it it is actually a FAX number so you can't get ahold of anyone. I dissrolled in January 2023 by Completing the Wellcare Disenrollment Form, emailing it to Medicare and Faxing and Emailing to Wellcare. I received insurance through my work so I did not need Wellcare anymore. I thought I was disenrolled but I was still charged for the plan monthly for the whole year. I filed a complaint with Medicare and then Wellcare left a voice message saying my complaint had been resolved. I had to file a second complaint and that was also closed by voice message. I have copies of the email I sent in January 2023 and the FAX I sent in January 2023 and I still received a voice message saying my complaint was resolved. I am so frustrated with them. I would advise anyone who is thinking about using Wellcare to think again. I feel like they have set up their business model to intentionally sign people up and take their money indefinitely. It makes me sick. I am leaving one star because this requires you to put a rating. If they had negative stars I would select the lowest possible negative star available.
