Redstone Federal CU to Open Calhoun Community College Branch at Decatur Campus

May 10, 2018

Beginning this fall, Calhoun Community College students will be able to walk into a Redstone Federal Credit Union® branch on their Decatur campus where their fellow students will handle their banking needs.

Calhoun Community College President Dr. James Klauber and Redstone’s President and CEO Joe Newberry, will jointly sign the lease agreement for the new branch today, May 10, after being approved by the Alabama Community College System.

Calhoun students will work part-time in the branch, alongside a full-time manager.

“Calhoun Community College is the state’s largest two-year college and it is right here in our back yards,’’ Newberry said. “We feel fortunate to partner with such an outstanding institution to install a branch on their campus to provide great service and convenience. In addition, we hire students and provide real-life work experiences,’’ he said.

“We are extremely excited with this opportunity to partner with Redstone Federal Credit Union in opening this new branch on our Decatur campus,” commented Klauber. “This partnership will not only provide easily accessible banking services to Calhoun students, faculty and staff but will also give those students who will work in the branch very positive, hands-on experiences, particularly if they are considering careers in the banking and finance arena,” Klauber added.

The college branch will handle new account openings, account maintenance and signature loans. All cash transactions are handled through the Interactive Teller Machine, accessible just outside the branch.

Redstone will also offer financial education workshops for students and staff throughout the school year.
