If you have issues using the OneDrive app on Mac, it might be that you're on an unsupported version of the Mac OS or need to apply a fix:

Unsupported Mac OS Versions

Effective February 1st, 2019, the OneDrive app on Mac will no longer support Mac OS X versions 10.11 or earlier. To ensure uninterrupted use of the OneDrive app on Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Determine your Mac OS version
  2. If on version 10.11 or earlier (e.g., 10.10, 10.9), upgrade to Mac OS 10.12 or above (administrator access required)
  3. If on Mac OS version 10.12 or later, no action is required

Fix for Invalid Username/password Error

Certain Mac users might have difficultly logging into the OneDrive app. Even when the user enters a valid SBU email/NetID password, he/she will receive an "invalid username or password" error. If you are using a Mac, and you have experienced this problem, then you will need to apply this fix. Note: not all Mac users will have this problem, attempt to log in to the OneDrive app before doing this. Also check that you are using a valid SBU email address and NetID password by logging into the OneDrive website here.

  1. Open Finder > Applications > search "Terminal". Run.
  2. Type "defaults write com.microsoft.OneDrive-mac DefaultToBusinessFRE -bool True", press Return.
  3. Type "defaults write com.microsoft.OneDrive-mac EnableAddAccounts -bool True", press Return.
  4. Open the OneDrive app on your computer; you should now be able to sign in.
  5. Relaunch the OneDrive app.

On typing in your SBU email address, you will be redirected to the SBU log in screen, where you can now sign in to the OneDrive app using your Stony Brook credentials: first.last@stonybrook.edu and NetID password
