I was a loyal customer of Talbot's for over 30 years. I didn't pay much attention to the interest rate when Talbot's started using Comenity Bank for their store credit card because I always paid off the card in full soon after I purchased items. The rewards and perks of using their card are great - free shipping, discounts, etc. However, I noticed they were charging small "interest fees" the month after I paid off the card. This is Comenity's policy. Then I received an email this year (2024) that they were increasing their interest rate to 35.9% on unpaid balances. I vaguely recall usury laws going into effect many years ago that limited the amount of interest, but apparently, that only applies to loans and there is no limit to what a bank can charge on their credit cards. I think this high of a rate is absolutely unethical and canceled my card immediately. I cannot support a business that misleads its customers like this. I have three issues with Talbots and Comenity: 1) the "junk fee" added the month after your card is paid in full, 2) the exorbitant interest rate, and 3) the delay in posting credits when a purchase is returned. It can take weeks after an email confirming Talbot's received the item before the credit is posted to your card -- I suspect this is planned so they can charge you interest. I will no longer do business with Talbot's until and unless they choose an ethical company to handle their credit cards.

Applied for the card with a FICO score of 803 and a household income of over $300,000. I was assigned a credit line of $250. Completely worthless!

I never seemed to be able to get the credit card paid off completely. After I paid what I thought I was due, I would always get another bill for a few dollars. I thought it was me, transposing numbers or not calculating returns correctly. When I got an interest charge on a bill I had paid off completely, I called and was told that you have to have a $0 bill for two months to avoid interest fees. In other words, they charged me interest on a $0 balance.

Do not bother with a Talbots credit card from Comenity Bank. Due to a clerical error, they began drafting my bank account for someone else's credit card. When the error was discovered, they gave me credit on my account (which conveniently for them, requires me to spend money) but refuse to issue a check or credit back to my bank account. They are totally incompetent.

Worst experience ever. Talbots was having a 2-day 50% off sale with free shipping and triple rewards points, if you used your Talbots card. My cr line is low so I paid my card off daily. Since I made two payments in the store, two days in a row, one with a checking debit card, and the other with cash, they put my card on a 7 day hold. I don’t understand this action. I called multiple times, and asked to speak with a manager, but my request was always denied. They keep saying it is due to an algorithm, and there is nothing that can be done. Now the sale is over, and I missed out. Of course nobody I talk to cares.

a very long time Talbot customer and have cancelled the card because the transition and ongoing support by Comenity is disasterous. Really their operation is sub par. Am very surprised Talbot switched to them. There were many phantom erroneous fees that took awhile to correct. I used to work in the credit card industry and dont even knoe how this could happen. we have cancelled the card and have lost respect for Talbots for picking Comenity as their provider.

Talbots closed my card because I hadn’t used it. If they had notified me they were planning to do so I would have made a purchase. When I spoke to them and ask them to reopen they refused.

Long-lasting classic clothing. I have been a customer since 1985. I brought my sisters to their store in Hingham MA the day after Christmas for many years. They both worked for Democratic governors in Washington DC. One of them said, "I thought Talbots was just for Republicans!" Both sisters bought $500 worth of great clothing. We kept up this Talbots tradition for the 20 years I lived near the founding Talbots store in Hingham MA.
