On a computer:
Get your new email password. Go to webmail.k12.sd.us and log in and leave this tab open.
Seniors--go to your sharepoint site--user is your email login and new email password. Go to your blog (journal) copy the url. Go to webmail and send it to yourself.
On a computer:
- Click heading above to proceed. We will do this on a desktop and also verify the account before moving on.
- Do not go on until you have set up your apple ID with your K-12 email and email password and veritified. You will use this for everything below.
Setup your iPad
On your iPad:
Swipe to begin the setup on your iPad
Set the Language to English
Set the location to United States
Choose a WiFi Network--Connect to the GHS network--
Put in your Network login and network password
Enter Password-Click Join
Click Trust ghsvmsecurity--right corner
Enable Location Services
"Garretson school dis will automatically configure your iPad" pick Next

Tap Get Started
Tap the Settings icon bottom left corner
Make sure General is highlighted on the left and then tap on the About on the right side of your screen:
Tap on Name on the top right side of your screen:
Change the name to one of the following:
Class#LastNameFirstInitial (or at least 8 letters if short name) 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 for class#
This step is very important, if not done correctly the iPad will not function properly. When you've changed the name tap Done.
Passwords have to be reset once a year. You all have a new password.
Set up email.
Go to Notes and put in your email and email password as you will use this alot.
Also be sure you are signed into the APPS store
(At this point, I need to enter you into the MDM and match you with your iPad. We may create accounts on your computer while we wait.)
Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your apple ID and password. Go to find my iphone/iPad--does it work?

DropBox--create a dropbox account with your K-12 Email and email password. This can be done on your computer or ipad. Click link below
Sign up for DropBox w/K-12 Email
MyPlanner--create an account witih your K-12 email. This can be done on a computer or ipad. You do not have paper planners this year. You can use this as your planner or use the calendar.
Edmodo--create an account with your K-12 email. This can be done on a computer or ipad.
Noteability--Create an account with your K-12 email and set up a folder for each class. This can be done on a computer or an ipad.
Word- pick activate on computer, connect on ipad put in your K-12 email. This must be done on a computer and an ipad. Use the cloud to work this year.

Calendar: Subscribe to calendars
If you know the web address of a calendar that someone has published or shared on the Internet, you can view it in Calendar by subscribing to it.
- In Calendar, choose File > New Calendar Subscription.
- Enter the calendar’s web address, and then click Subscribe.
- Enter a name for the calendar in the Name field and choose a color from the adjacent pop-up menu.
If you have an iCloud account, choose whether you want the calendar on that account.
To view a subscription calendar in Calendar on your Mac and on devices with iOS 5 or later without resubscribing to it, choose your iCloud account.
To get the calendar’s event attachments or alerts, deselect the appropriate Remove checkboxes.
To update your copy of the calendar when changes to it are published, choose the update frequency from the “Auto-refresh” pop-up menu.
- Click OK.
To make changes to the calendar, click the name of the calendar, and then choose Edit > Get Info.
Erase an existing iPad--Freshmen and Sophomores add this step.
To erase your iPad, cancel any prompts to sign in, tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
