Formerly Way Heavy
That scratching at the door of a full-bodied drinking experience means only one thing: It’s time to let the big dog in. Big and bold. Silky and strong. Pop the top, and take a bite!
Plumptuous unleashes an ideal balance of pale ale malt, crystal malt and Bramling Cross hops to deliver a rich pour with plum and caramel undertones. Note a touch of roast fetched from a hint of black malt.

A light color for a scotch ale, able to see through with a nice red color. Taste is also light for a scotch ale but that is ok with me, plenty of malt/caramel without the heavy peat taste some go for. One of the more enjoyable/drinkable scotch ales I,ve had in a while

Taste: Bold smoked malt, peat, spice bread, some hop. roasted peat, malt and spices to the nose. Cola Brown hue, mostly clear, tall foamy tan head with ring lace. Full body. Robust kinda boozy kick. 27 IBUs

12oz bottle of the first bottling run. Served in a snifter glass.
Pours a dark amber-copper body, actually black appearing, minimal quarter finger white head, no retention or lacing to be found. Smells of dark fruit, tons of toffee, a bit of pepper, more or less a standard scotch ale. Really not much to smell unfortunately. Flavour is standard scotch ale fare with a lot of toffee, a bit of peppery earthiness, a little bit of dark fruit. Nothing too special, but definitely solid. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, substantial, low on carbonation, hefty, sweet finish. Decent scotch ale, a bit different with a dark fruited twist.

poured 12oz bottle into small snifter glass. It is dark, opaque brown with ruby highlights. A small light tan head appears and then quickly falls to a ring around the top, leaves behind some lacing. Aromas start with caramel malt accented by some figs and raisins. Some brown sugar with a nice sweet maltiness. Not much in the way of earth and peat. First sip brings big caramel and bready malt upfront. It's followed by raisins, figs, brown sugar and a faint touch of hops to balance out the sweetness of malt. A nice smooth feel that is medium bodied with soft carbonation. I'm not sure why some of the reviews are down on this as I found it to be enjoyable.
