The Fire TV platform is capable of running apps just like a smartphone or tablet would. If you experience issues with a particular app not working properly or stop running, this guide can help you troubleshoot those problems.
2. Restart
Restarting your Fire TV depends on the type of device you have:
For a Fire TV Set-Top Box or Stick you can do the following:
Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons at the same time for about five seconds.
Or, From the main screen of your Fire TV, go to Settings.
Then go to Device.
And choose Restart. Confirm your decision by selecting Restart.
Alternatively, you can unplug the power cord from the device, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
For a Fire TV Edition Smart TV you can do the following:
Press the Power button on the remote, wait for 10 seconds and then press it again.
Alternatively, you can unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
3. Troubleshoot App
Using your remote, from the main Fire TV menu go to Settings.
From there, go to Applications.
Then go to Manage Installed Applications.
Select the app you're having trouble with.
First, select the Clear cache option then test the app to see if the issue is resolved.
It the issue persists, try the Clear data option. This option doesn't delete the app itself but may delete saved information. Once again, test it out before proceeding to the next step.
If the option is available, you can also move the app between internal or external storage (SD Card).
If the issue still persists, then select the Force stop option.
After that go to Launch Application and test the app once again.
4. Check Internet Connection
Using your remote, from the main Fire TV menu go to Settings.
Then go to Network.
Press the Play/Pause button on your remote.

5. Uninstall App
Using your remote, from the main Fire TV menu go to Settings.
From there, go to Applications.
Then go to Manage Installed Applications.
Select the app you want to uninstall.

Using your remote, from the main Fire TV menu go to Apps.
Browser through Feature, Games and Categories.
Select an app to open its overview page.
Then install it by selecting Buy, Get or Download.
7. Manual Updates Check
To manually check for a software update on your Amazon Fire TV:
Select Settings.
Select Device.
Select About.
Select System Update.
If an update is available, it will automatically start downloading. Once the download is complete, select Install Update to complete installation.
8. Factory Reset
Resetting your device to its factory settings erases all accounts, and saved settings.
From the main Fire TV menu go to Settings.
Then go to Device.
And choose Reset to Factory Defaults.
Confirm your decision by selecting Reset.
The Fire TV device will be reset to factory defaults then restarted.
