If you plan on using your Nintendo Switch, Nintendo game (like Mario Kart Tour), or Nintendo console to make purchases or get free games, you'll need to use a Nintendo eShop account. This wikiHow will teach you how to login to a Nintendo eShop account on Nintendo Switch, the WiiU, and a web browser.

Method 1
Method 1 of 2:

Using a Nintendo Switch and WiiU

  1. The "POWER" button is located on the top left corner of the Switch and the WiiU GamePad.
  2. You'll be prompted to press this button when your handheld console starts; you may be prompted to press more buttons to continue to the Home screen.
    • Press the "HOME" button that's on the right side of the Switch below the thumbstick. For the WiiU, you'll find the "HOME" button centered at the bottom of your GamePad.
  3. Use the left thumbstick to navigate around the screen to the yellow shopping bag icon. Both the WiiU and Switch navigate identically.
  4. Choose either Sign In and Link (if you already have a Nintendo account) or Create Account. If you already have a Nintendo account, you don't have to repeat the process of creating a new one.
  5. You can use Facebook, Google, Twitter, or Apple account login information to create a new account or login to your current account.

Method 2
Method 2 of 2:

Using a Web Browser

  1. Go to https://accounts.nintendo.com/login in a web browser. You can use any web browser to sign into Nintendo eShop.
  2. You can no longer use your Nintendo Network ID to login, so if you forgot your password and are unable to use either Facebook, Google, Twitter, or Apple to log in, you can click "Forgot your password."
  3. If the website asks you for a code, launch the Google Authenticator app on your phone and get the code for the Nintendo website. You can also use a backup code if you don't have access to your phone, but you must have the backup code.[1]
