I have no issue using the CTVApp on my iPad but attempting to authenticate it on my Apple TV 4K does not verify the code generated on my ATV. I submit the code, then choose SHAW to sign in , but it just sends me back to the Code page.
Same thing happens on my MacbookAir on CTV.ca I just keep going in circles signing into my SHAW account.
Other Apps don’t have this issue either.

I deleted the CTV App off Apple TV, it didn’t help,I still got sent back the code page. I tried restarting ATV.
It’s also not an issue with an app on the MacBook because that’s using a browser - there is no CTV App for online viewing on a Mac. I tried clearing cache on the browser & restarting - didn’t help either.
There’s something wrong with CTV and their help page is of no help because I went to that and it lists every cable provider to contact , except Shaw. I closed the CTV App on my iPad in case it was a device limit.
So I don’t know if it’s CTV that just refuses to link up with SHAW. It would be nice if Apple could do what they do in the United States and let you sign into your cable provider in Settings to set it up for all Apps to avoid all these activations.
@wickedfairy Are you still seeing this issue when trying to login to the CTV app or site with your Shaw ID? If so, are you experiencing similar issues when trying to login to other channel websites, like Global or CBC?

I am also having the problem. I have a Shaw internet acct $120 a month, I pay for CBC news in the apple tv, and that works. The global app is free for local news and national, and I watch that no problem.
the CTV app however is strange, I have not been able to login and watch anything, the authentication page I get sent too, never authenticates, and just keeps pushing me back to the same code page.
there was a point recently however that I was able to watch CTV National news, but one say that was in accessible. I have even tried to follow pay walls to pay for the privilege, but that did not work either.
Any further assistance would be helpful. PS my digital antenna brings in CTV fine.

By "internet acct", does that mean that you are subscribed ONLY to Shaw Internet, or that you are subscribed to BOTH Shaw Internet and to one of the Shaw TV packages? For example, the "Limited TV" plan includes:

Which web-browser are you using to connect to www.ctv.ca ?
You are giving your Shaw ID and password to CTV, and they send that information to Shaw, and Shaw checks your list of authorized channels, and seems to be replying that you are not subscribed to the CTV channel.
I recommend that you contact Shaw, and get them to "refresh" your list of authorized channels, if you are subscribed to one of their TV plans. Or, for $25/month, add "Limited TV".
I'm having the same issue with the CTV news app on my Android Pixel phone. CTV News app will not authenticate and shows this error msg "We're having trouble signing you in to your account. Please contact Shaw at 1-888-472-2222 for assistance" I called the number for support and the rep told me it's nothing to do with Shaw and I should contact CTV... Not very helpful at all. The same problem exists on the www.ctvnews.ca except no errors messages appear, I'm just continuously asked to sign-in over and over without ever getting access... please help!
@Philip_Bonneau Are able to use the same Shaw ID and login to Global? Does it work there?
@Philip_Bonneau -- Are both the CTV and the CTV News channels available through your Shaw TV subscription?
The CTV channel is available in every TV "bundle", but only some bundles include CTV News.
Can you authenticate to the CTV web-site, but not the CTV News web-site?
