How to enable Incognito mode on YouTube: Step-by-step guide

When logged into the YouTube app, you can now turn on Incognito mode. Incognito lets you browse in a session that won’t influence or reflect.in your account search and watch history. While incognito, the YouTube app behaves as if you aren’t signed in to your account.

When you turn off Incognito, your search and watch history is cleared. You’ll return to the last account you used before turning on Incognito. Also, none of your Incognito session activity will be reflected on your account.

Here is how to turn on Incognito mode on YouTube:

  • Open the YouTube app on your phone.
  • Now tap on your account icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Then tap on Turn on Incognito.
  • If it's your first time using Incognito, tap on 'Got it' on the pop-up.

Once you're in Incognito Mode, you'll see that your profile icon is changed to Chrome's Incognito symbol, and a black bar at the bottom of the YouTube app reads, "You're incognito."

If you’re inactive for more than 90 minutes, your Incognito session will end. You’ll then be returned to the last account you used. The next time you open YouTube, you’ll get a message letting you know that you’re no longer Incognito.

Everything you do while in Incognito mode is private. So, when you try to do something public like commenting or subscribing, you'll be asked to sign in to complete that action.
