Navy Fed Website Issues

Am I the only one that has problems with their website? When I am accessing it via desktop it makes me do the 2 step auth every time I try to log on - regardless if I check the "Remember this browser" box or not. I called CS and they could not assist me.  I'm using Chrome on a Mac.
Any ideas?

(My phone app seems to be working OK, thankfully..)

Have you changed any cookie settings recently? Have you added any new extensions?

Make sure you are not using Incognito mode. If you use Incognito mode, NFCU will not recognize it as a browser that can be saved as trusted.

Re: Navy Fed Website Issues

When I logged in the other day they made me go through another round of trust phone numbers and security questions. Wouldn't let me skip it as I already have that info. So I had to put in new ones that 90% didn't even fit me, had to do with marriage, kids, anniversaries etc. lol

Hadn't been back since, because they're not my main Bank.

Re: Navy Fed Website Issues

You are not the only one. I joined in mid March and first couple of weeks I could log on to website. From the first week of April till last week I couldn't log on.

It would keep saying username or password wrong. So I call them and nobody can figure it out, I had my password reset 3 different times and it still wouldn't let me log on.

I could still access the mobile app the whole time though. Well I ended up getting a new laptop recently and called them back to reset the password the fourth time. This time it let me login on the new laptop.

I had been using my Samsung Galaxy 9 with all the failed logins. Never had any problem logging in anywhere else from phone.

Re: Navy Fed Website Issues

I have intermittent issues with the web site. Sometimes, it seems to be down for maintenance. Some features are flaky, including the message center. I had to switch browsers to send them a message. Although, I later disabled Chrome's popup blocking (the build-in capability; I had already disabled AdBlock for that site). Not that big a deal for me so far, and something I can work through or just wait a while and try again.

However, as a new member, I will mention simply for posterity or DPs that my experience joining and getting set up has seemed a bit sloppy. I described this on the credit card forum regarding the prequalification tool, but it's probably relevant here also. Let me say upfront, I think the stuff I am about to describe may be due to virus-related staffing problems and people being tired or overworked. I'm not upset about it and I'm glad to be a NFCU member.

Timeline:

Sun, April 20: Joined over the telephone.

Mon, April 21: Uploaded documents from their two lists of document types to verify my identity. Driver license and, I think, W-2.

Wed, April 23: NFCU mailed me a letter saying they had a problem with my documents and they needed me to try the upload again before I could be approved as a member. I did not receive this letter until Monday, April 28.

Mon, April 28: In the morning, I received an email welcoming me as a new member. I tried to log in for online banking, but my SSN and DOB didn't work in the "help logging in" area. I called them and the CSR had me try the same "help logging in" thing again. It still didn't work. She said hmm, hold on, and she did it for me. I was able to log in, change my password, and set up transfers from my other banks/CUs. In other words, at this point, I was a member, not an applicant for membership. Later that day, received the letter from the 23rd. I assumed it must have been in error since they let me in before I uploaded more documents; and anyway, I knew my documents were valid and were on their list.

Later that week: I saw I was prequalified for all NFCU credit cards. Figured may as well go for the gusto and applied for Flagship. I thought I'd be denied and I was denied, after a TU hard inquiry.

A few days after that: I'd been thinking about whether I would be best served to wait a few months and try Flagship again, or do what everybody says you're supposed to do, and get a different card first. Decided to get a different card. Applied for the 1.5% rewards card. They pulled both EQ and EX (?) and then I got a 24-48 hour message.

The next day: Got a secured message from NFCU asking me to upload my social security card, and a "change of information" form. I called them to ask why, since my information is not changing. They said that my SSNs didn't match and they thought they entered the SSN incorrectly when setting up my account.

Perhaps I should have followed up about the letter they sent me dated April 23, but I thought it was their error that they figured out, else, why would they have let me join? In hindsight, I should have asked them about it.

But on their end, as best I can tell:

1 - They goofed my SSN setting up the account. It happens ...

2 - They noticed the issue (probably saw a different SSN on my W-2 and flagged it), but then, set up my account before I could resolve the issue or was even aware of the issue, since I had not received the letter in the mail yet.

3 - When I had my issue with "help logging in" and called, in hindsight, I think the problem was that the SSN in their system didn't match my actual SSN, and I think the CSR "fixed" it by entering the (wrong) SSN she saw in her system, without telling me this.

4 - When I applied for Flagship, which granted was probably an easy "no" for them, they should have seen the mismatched SSNs and flagged it. They did not at that time. I simply got a denial (which I received in the mail yesterday) saying "not approved for minimum credit limit for product." If anybody is wondering, you do not enter your SSN at the time you apply for a card.

5 - When I applied for the 1.5% card, they did notice the issue and flagged it to resolve. Maybe because it was a provisional "yes" so they decided it was worth dealing with, as opposed to the easy "no" for Flagship. Just speculating.

6 - They, in effect, triple-pulled me because of their error (technically a single-pull followed a couple of days later with a double-pull) ... in my unusual situation (massive credit-seeking anyway), I don't mind too much, but in some situations, that could be a real problem. I'm not sure how they pulled my credit at all with the wrong SSN. Apparently it is possible, but I don't think it should be, and I think they should have noticed and dealt with the root issue rather than simply doing hard inquiries willy-nilly. I guess they were thinking "this doesn't look right, let's try another CR and see what it says".

Overall not what I expected as far as how well-run I would have assumed NFCU would be. But again, maybe the virus is putting a big strain on their staff. The three people I have spoken with on the phone have been professional and courteous, so, that's good.

Re: Navy Fed Website Issues

Funny thing you say that.  They also mixed up when I sent a secured message to request a change on my due date.  I requested to change a new due date on the More Rewards card.  However, whoever set it up must have been tired.  He/she changed the new due date on the Secured card instead.  No biggie though as I only have 2 credit cards, I just had to adjust some auto pay around so that I have enough time to close out the statement w/ a $0 balance.
