Currently, the Green Bay Packers don’t have much salary cap space to work with. That’s also set to the be the case next offseason, although a lot can change between now and then.

For starters, as we’ve seen throughout this offseason across the league, there are many ways teams can create cap room. That includes roster cuts, trades, contract extensions, and restructures. How often have we heard the term “voidable years” used this offseason?

Like they’ve done this past spring, the Packers will be able to create more cap space next year as and when they need to. One such way could be if Aaron Rodgers departs next year. Even if he’s not traded away this offseason, the Packers could make significant cap savings if they find a trade partner in 2022.

So, for a moment, let’s assume the Packers do indeed clear enough cap space to not only get into a healthy position, but also to make a big signing in free agency. Even if it’s only one player, there could be some great options in free agency next offseason.

It’s never too early to look ahead. So let’s skip the 2021 season and jump forward to next March. Here are three dream free-agency targets for the Packers in 2022.
