The Oklahoma City-based WEOKIE Foundation will award a total of $50,000 in scholarships to area high school seniors to apply toward a college or a vocational-technical school of their choice. Applicants will be judged on essay submissions, and 25 will be selected and awarded $2,000 each.

The essay topic is, “When you look back at the end of your career, what would it take for you to consider yourself successful?”

“We firmly believe in the next generation,” said Sarah Mackey, financial education specialist, WEOKIE Foundation. “Giving 25 students the opportunity to advance their education is one of the greatest honors. I wish you had the chance to read these amazing essays because it would give you hope for the future.”

Mackey added, “The WEOKIE Foundation was established to impact the community in three ways: student scholarships, financial education, and giving to the community through local nonprofits.”

All submissions must be completed online no later than Jan. 31. Applicants wishing to apply for a scholarship should visit weokie.org for the essay requirement details.
