According to a recent study, around 60 percent of us make New Year's resolutions, but only about eight percent of us follow through with them.

One of the most common resolutions people make are to quit smoking.

The Colorado Quitline wants to help.

Starting January 1., Coloradans on Medicaid will receive a 10 dollar gift card when the sign up with the state's quitline program.

It's a way for those who are trying to quit to reward themselves for signing up to be smoke free.

"A big part of making a big behavior change and addressing a big addiction is rewarding yourself," says Michelle Lynch with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The Colorado Quitline offers free coaching as well as nicotine patches and gum.
