Hello, The records we display from the open electoral roll show a name, address and year the person was registered to vote at an address.
If a record isn’t shown after searching by a name and location, it could mean the person had opted off the open electoral roll. There is also the possibility that there is a record for somebody with a similar name, at a different location.
We do explain this in more detail under the FAQ’s on the Help pages.

If we can offer any further assistance, please email feedback@192.com. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback.

We're sorry to hear that you're not satisfied with the pricing of our online services.

Our credit packages are designed to offer flexibility and value, with pricing based on the number of searches you wish to carry out. The more credits you purchase, the lower the cost per search. For instance, purchasing 100 credits for £65.94 reduces the cost to just 66p per search (including VAT).

Further details about our pricing structure can be found on our Help page.

Please avoid this site, total waste of time and money

Be warned: this service is extremely misleading. I assumed that credits would only be used when choosing to reveal detailed information about an address, but just typing in an address and clicking “Search” immediately uses up one credit, even if nothing useful comes up. There’s no clear warning before your credit is taken, and no confirmation step. Once you’ve paid, every click costs you.

I paid £19 and got absolutely nothing of value in return. If I’d known how it worked, I never would have spent the money.

Hello Amina, When you have credits on your account, the credit is used when you enter a name and location and press search. An additional credit is used if you click on anything else within that search, as these are classed as new searches and another credit is used.
If ‘’No Records Found’’ message appears, then we don’t deduct a credit from your account.

We also provide information on the number of credits used per search in the Help pages, both before and after account registration or credits purchased.

There is a Credit Warning alert on each account, which will display as a pop-up box each time you're about to spend one of your credits on a search. It will tell you how many credits you will spend, and ask you to confirm before taking you to the search results. This feature can be turned on/off under Site Preferences found under 'your account'.
Thanks.

Total ripoff - just clicking search uses up a credit

What they don't make clear is that simply typing in an address and clicking search uses up a credit, even though you can do that for free before you even buy any credits. You might think that they'd only charge a credit if you wanted to reveal information on the address, but no, just clicking search = one credit down the drain. If you bought the 6-credit bundle that's £3.19 per credit.

Also, they don't store previous searches in your account even though you paid for them. So if you need to look up an address you searched for previously, yep that's another credit gone. £3.19 just to click search.

Be extremely careful what you click once you've bought some credits, because the website makes it very easy to waste them.

Hello, When you have credits on your account, the credit is used when you enter a name and location and press search. An additional credit is used if you click on anything else within that search ie CCJ, Insolvency Check, Mortality Check, Director link or other occupant, as these are classed as new searches and another credit is used. If you click to view the Property Ownership Verification to check if a person is/has been the owner of the property that was searched, then we do advise that 2 credits will be used to view this data.

We also provide information on the number of credits used per search in the Help pages, both before and after account registration or credits purchased.

Conducting a search without credits will only result in limited data being displayed. Once credits are used to make a search, the full details of the search are then shown.

There is a Credit Warning alert on each account, which will display as a pop-up box each time you're about to spend one of your credits on a search. It will tell you how many credits you will spend, and ask you to confirm before taking you to the search results. This feature can be turned on/off under Site Preferences found under 'your account'.

The more credits you purchase, the lower the cost per search. For example, buying 100 credits for £65.94 brings the cost down to just 66p (inclusive of VAT) per search.

To help you keep track of previous searches, we provide the option to download and save a record (Excel/PDF) once the results are displayed. This option is clearly visible at the top of the results page.

If we can offer any further assistance, please email feedback@192.com. Thanks.

Dear Sue, The records we display from the open electoral roll show a name, address and year the person was registered to vote at that address. I used the company to conduct a search

I used the company to conduct a search. When I was using their site, it transpired that there was a glitch that resulted in two payments deducted from my account. I raised this with them and they tried to tell me that they would offer me 50% discount for the second payment taken that I was not aware of till much later. I disputed with them although they'd gone ahead and credited the 50% into my account without asking me if I'd accept the offer. I had to challenge them as I belive they were aware of the glitch with their payment system. After a few exchanges of email and threatening to report the incident to my bank they decided to give me a full refund. This, I should not have encountered and was very disappointed with the way they communicated with me. Their responses were blunt and uncaring. I will not be using them again and urge users to always check their bank accounts after they've used them. Terrible company.

Dear Joanne, Thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you faced while using our online service.
As outlined in our email correspondence, the two payments were processed at different times, and the service was accessed accordingly.
We understand how this situation could have caused frustration and disappointment, and we regret any inconvenience it may have caused.

I am only giving 4 stars because I could not access the information I had paid for, even after trying several times and inadvertently paying twice for it! The system kept producing error reports. I telephoned 192.com and spoke to Laura. She was the most fantastic help! Not only did she refund me one of the charges, but also successfully emailed the information to me. Thank you so much Laura! :)

Warning

I was on the phone to this service for 3 minutes and was charged over nine pounds. Told no number available when I asked. Appalling amount to charge for so little info. I will never ring this service again.

Reply from 192.com

Dear Hal, I’m sorry to hear about your frustration with the charges and the service you received.

I’d like to clarify that we offer 20 free Directory Enquiry searches for telephone numbers on our website, once an account is registered. To search you need to enter the name and location of the person in the Directory Enquiry search page: https://www.192.com/people/directory-enquiries/ and if there is a telephone number available it will be displayed to you. If a telephone number doesn’t appear on your initial free search, it would mean the person was ex directory and there is no way of finding the number. We do make the call prices to 118 119 clearly visible on our website for full transparency.

If you have made a call to the premium number 118 119 and you have not been happy with the outcome, then we would suggest you contact your telecom provider for them to look into it for you.

Simple extortion

The minimum fee being almost £20 for 6 searches that expire after only one month is outrageous.

Why so many as a minimum?
Why do credits expire EVER?

192.com's responses here to the many other complaints about their pricing policies are laughable. They don't address the problem and pretend that being explicit about extortion in advance makes it OK. It doesn't, it just makes it very clear that it is extortion.

Come on 192!
1) Remove the expiry of credits.
2) Allow people to buy just one credit.

We know you're a business,
we know you have to make a profit,
we know you've cornered the market,
but you don't HAVE to behave like rip-off merchants.

Scammed

Paid for a background check which is supposed to include up to 5 previous addresses, the names or neighbours, current address and a bunch more things. However for nearly £20 I received an address they lived at in 2013, the occupants then and a conformation of a case being at that address. No other addresses. No other info. The report didnt even include a d.o.b. God knows what info they dug up for paypals refund team but somehow this scam has been allowed. Avoid at all costs

Utter nonsense

Utter nonsense. 20 pounds for credits to find out the sum total of nothing. Nothing, that is, that I couldn't find out for free on the internet. I was trying to find a person and a business contact details, and all I got was a version of what's available from Gov. register. I don't know how they get away with this.

Why do credits only last one month or six months? I have paid for those credits and they should last forever. Even if I come back a year later I should still be able to use credits I have bought and paid for?
