Not able to login in Enterprise Portal with a valid user ID and password.

Hi,

we are using EP 6.0 with SP 15 on Windows 2000.

In the first login screen of EP, even after entering valid user ID & password we are getting the same login page with the User ID field filled and password field empty, without showing any error messages. If we enter incorrect user ID or password it says "user authentication failed". This is happening for all valid user IDs (even for super administrator).

If we enter the same user ID and password for 3 times the user account gets locked as expected.

we have tried to resolve the problem by restarting the portal server, but it does not work.

we are able to start or stop the portal server and also able to login to the Visual administrator.

We have already checked issues related to browser cookies settings and security level and it is all ok and not the cause of this problem.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Shaik

Hi Mike,

No luck. Cannot find Server. Same problem. Is there something I need to do in my "Hosts" file or some other file?

Thank you for your quick response.

Is the instance running? How many jcontrol processes and jlaunch processes do you have?

Cheers

The instance is running, but I dont think I have any jcontrol or jlaunch processes. I am running a Netweaver 2004s ABAP version. I installed this just yesterday after uninstalling the Netweaver 2004s Java version.

I am afraid, the problem is with my hosts file. This is how it looks. Where the last 2 entries I commented.

127.0.0.1 localhost

#127.0.0.1 NR

#10.0.1.20 ltuxmsr

Thanks.

If you have just an ABAP instance, then you won't be able to run any Java apps, including EP...

You either need a standalone Java instance, or add a Java instance to your ABAP instance.

Hello Sameer,

i have the same problem. How did you exactly recreate the Login Ticket in VA? I deleted my SAPLoginTicketKeypair and recreated it. After starting the Server again i still cannot login with the j2ee_admin.

Would be great if you could help me out...

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Sameer,

My issue is kind of similar to yours only. The administrator User ID does not work for NWA / UME link tabs on the index page even when I am giving the correct password. This attempt does not fails, but the result is the same login page. The same administrator ID workd fine for login to Visual administrator.I raised an OSS as well and they said it could be a proble in the ticketstore.

Can you please guide me how to recreate the ticketkeystore.

Thanks

Hi Sameer,

You may have problems if you used a password longer than 8 characters. Try this SAP note 669848.

Go thru this

<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_ep60sp2/helpdata/en/6d/4cc63d3b3ffb4fe10000000a114084/content.htm">document</a> also.

Also make sure that u access the portal with the fully qualified domain name. This prob also occurs when u try to access the portal using IP address instead of the domain name.

Regards,

Pooja.

Sameer

Can you elaborate more on the type of installation (Java/ JAVA+ABAP).

Were the new users created with initial password?

If its JAVA+ABAP try to login to ABAP stack first and reset the password.

Hope the above helps

1-Can you login to the main SAP WAS page using the following URL:

http://<server_name>:<port_number>/index.html

where <server_name> would be <b>localhost</b> if its installed on the PC you're trying to access it from and <port_number> would be <b>50000</b> on the default installation. Then try User Administration from there.

2-Can you access the SLD using the following URL:

http://<server_name>:<port_number>/sld

using the following:

username: <b>admin</b>

password: <b>admin</b>
