What is the Contact Manager Tool ?

 The Alcatel-Lucent Business Portal allows registered customers to create,


administrate, their own accesses to the site, without requiring the
intervention of an Alcatel-lucent team.

 The Contact Manager Tool concentrates all those features in one,


structured, easy-to-use online tool.
 It is accessible to people with the right privilege.
You have to be “Partner Contact Manager” to access the tool. Contact your
local Alcatel-Lucent representative if you can’t access it ( see the next
section to access the tool )

Go to the Business Portal Website: https://businessportal.alcatel-lucent.com

2.1 Creating new Business Portal accounts : Creation by Duplication

The Business Portal account creation process works by duplicating existing one

Using the contact search (see previouly), find a contact that is the
1. closest match ( in terms of roles ) to the one you one you have to
create.
Basically any contact will do the trick but a contact, but if you choose
a contact with similar roles, creation is a bit quicker.

On the right border of the page, click on the button, as shown.

Enter values in the form. Pay extra attention to the email address. It has to be
personal ( no generic address ), and correct ( mistyped emails will create issues )

Then fill the rest of the parameters in and click on Submit.

And the account is created.

Recommendations:
• Make sure the email address is correct, it will become the user’s account login !

• The « BP Contact Manager » role gives a account the ability to create contacts so
do not give this privilege to anyone !

• If you do not know what operational role to choose, select « no role » in the list.

You get the account edition form.

Tips:

• You can edit the email address, but the login

won’t be changed automatically. You have to

contact Alcatel-Support to change a login.

• Changing a contact eBuy access will give or

remove access to online purchasing of

products, so be careful when editing/

duplicating a existing purchaser.

• The back button allows you to undo your

changes. Submit button commits the changes

immediately in the business portal database

4.2 About Login and Password Management: How to unlock an account.

Sometimes an account is locked


after too many wrong passwords
entries ( red ).
In this case, the user sees this
screen at login

To unlock the account, Search for the account, go the More Detail / Login
Password screen and check the Account Status.

Click on the Connection Attempts Validity button to remove the lock. Password
is kept as is, so check with the user if he really requires a new password.

Warning: Always remove the lock before giving a new password.

To disable an account and revoke all Business Portal access :

Confirm your action in the popup:

Now if you search for the contact again, you won’t find it.

Note: Alcatel-Lucent administrator can still undelete this contact if


necesssary. Contact your Alcatel-Lucent representative if such case
occurs.

Business Portal allows extraction of contact information, here are some


applications in customers cases today:

 Helps maintaining up-to-date contact list


– Tracking of contacts in large companies ( people turnover )
– Tracking of user privileges ( like purchasing rights, download rights)
– Avoid creating multiple accounts for the same person
 Helps maintaining quality of information:
– Ease the maintenance of correct email address information ( critical for
communication with Alcatel-Lucent and login / password management )
– Helps during change management ( corporate email domain changes for
example )
