Worst bank ever!!! I'm a senior and a vet, they offered a $200 bonus if you direct deposit and make seven transactions. It's been 2 months and still no money in my account. I also wanted to transfer almost 12k from Canada. They said it would take 14 days, after 10 days they canceled my transfer. They said they don't do that. Check out the other reviews this bank is the worst bank, go to Chase Bank they treat you much better. They did my money transfer in less than 24 hours. I must have had a dozen Banks over the years and this is the worst bank that I've ever had stay away from them they'll just screw you!!!
Absolute worst bank ever! Any scammer can take money out of your account without any consequences. Security is missing in action. No protection for your money.

BEWARE OF THIS BANK
I am a small business owner and had two reckless incidents where checks were stolen from my business. They scanned my wife's signature and put it on two checks totaling $30,000. The signatures were totally crooked and you could tell they were scanned. The individual went to two different branches and the checks were cashed. Obviously, there had to be a teller involved in the crime. The bank made good on it, but going forward, there was a note in my account that any check written over $500, the owner was to be called.
Now we had a second incident. A title clerk was embezzling checks using a phone scanner, over $49,000 went through. I sat with the bank manager, went over my account and showed her the checks that were forged, and then asked her how their fraud department did not catch on to this. Also, I requested a printout confirming they were supposed to call me on anything over $500. She complied. I said, "Please have your security officer call me as well." "They're busy. They will call you in a couple of days," she replied.
She then informed me that the executive of the security department decided not to make good on the money that was embezzled. It was plain as day. It’s their fault for letting these checks go through. I insisted that I needed the security executive to call me. "She is out for the week. Please have her call me Monday immediately. I would like to know why the decision has been made not to make good on this after the branch was supposed to be calling me."
As of right now, the bank has not made good. I have to take them to court and spend money to get $49,000 back that was embezzled, due to their fraud department and the branch's recklessness for not catching on to all of this. If you are a business owner, please take heed of this because you would have to close your doors if you lost this much money.
The security department has yet to call me. Please, if you own any business, do not engage with this bank - it's dangerous. They hire people constantly who don't thoroughly understand their job. I implore you, if you value your money, this is not the place to go.
I am still out $49,000 of my hard-earned money and this bank is insured for such losses. I've been a customer for 15 years - don't ever think a bank takes care of you. Banks don't care; you're just a number. It’s not like the '60s and '50s anymore, where a handshake meant something at a bank.
Stay away from this bank, far away, or I guarantee you will be losing money.
Thank you, Berkshire Bank, for hurting my children and my business over your negligence in safeguarding people's money. Beware, beware, beware.
I also plan to call the local newspaper and the local Spectrum news over this.

It is unprofessional and seems to be about taking your money easily. 50% of the bank employees don't know about their job! The supervisor is not good.

Berkshire needs to work on improving their online account application and opening process, as well as communication -- both internally when having dealt with a customer and also with the customer.
Absolutely horrible. I have been receiving calls at my child's bedtime. I contacted customer service to take my number off their list or whatever it takes. I spent 15 minutes on hold only for them to tell me they couldn't help me and that maybe it was someone trying to scam me. The only problem is all the calls are from numbers customer service confirmed as their own numbers.

Berkshire Bank used to be a good bank. I have been a customer for over 30 years; however, in the past few years, my experiences have not been good. The bank changed their online platform, and it is horrible; they gave false information on when we would be able to access our accounts after the changeover. It took me hours on the phone to get my accounts back online, and now I continue to use it to pay bills, but the new system is cumbersome and not user-friendly. I made a request in a branch and was told to reach out to the support line. I sent a secure message about an item that was somewhat time-sensitive (three weeks) and they finally replied to my message 30 days later, telling me to call their support line. By the time I needed the answer, it had come and gone, and I wondered why they thought that their telephone helpline would be any better than their online customer support. Bottom line, they have no customer support.
My 87-year-old grandmother started receiving late fees for past-due accounts tied to her debit card. When we were finally able to reach someone in customer service, they said they "detected fraud" and had cancelled her card weeks ago. There were no phone calls, texts, emails, or alerts in the Berkshire Bank app warning of fraud or stating they had canceled the card. The representative said he ordered a new card to be sent and it would arrive in 7-10 days. Two weeks later, no card had arrived, so we called customer service again. This representative said no card had ever been sent or even ordered. She said she would order a new card and it would arrive in 7-10 business days. Again, two weeks later, no card arrived. This time, we called customer service and she was asked security questions: name on account, last four of SSN, bank account number, and DOB. This representative, with her barely understandable English, said she still couldn't verify the account and put us on hold for about 5 minutes. When she returned, she asked for her driver's license number and then her employer. Confused, she told the woman she didn't have an employer. The woman, annoyed, replied, "Ma'am, you don't have a job?". She had to explain she was 87 and had not been employed for many years. The representative said she had to put us on hold once again to speak with her manager. After 18 minutes, we hung up, confused and left with figuring out ways for her to pay all of her past due bills and late fees that had now all accumulated.
We tried transferring money from her account; every transfer attempt was canceled with no explanation.
On the last business day before Christmas, she had no money, so we had to find someone to bring her into the physical location. We called that morning verifying they would be open until 5; she confirmed they were closing at 5. She arrived at the bank at 4:30 to read a note on the door: "Lobby is closed. Sorry for the inconvenience." That was the last straw. It has been almost two months now, and Berkshire Bank has blocked an elderly woman from accessing her own funds.
I agree with the others; this bank absolutely needs to be investigated.
I have been burned by this bank twice-once with a "Free" business account that they transitioned to a fee HEAVY account and then again with the "free" personal checking account, which charges a $3.00 fee for EVERY outgoing external transfer. I think this transfer charge is new, as it wasn't charged for my first few transfers. I didn't receive notice of either change, though they swear they mailed me notices. The phone customer service was horrendous and refused to waive any of the surprise charges (the business checking charges added up to over $200). The in person bank support though, was wonderful. They waived some of the fees and graciously helped me to close out my account. There are too many banks without hidden fees to stay with Berkshire.
Explained everything in detail. Very friendly. Lots of options on products available. So far so good. BUT... 2-3 weeks later, What happened? My first snail mail deposit was not credited to my account. Looks like the snail mail deposit was lost, stolen, or miscredited elsewhere. Phone calls go unanswered or hangs up intentionally. ALL of them, not just 1 branch. I tried every local branch; phone system is designed to NOT answer the phone calls. NOT a good start. Their 1-800 system is cumbersome and waste of time. Checks arrived ok; bank does NOT offer pre-stamped mailing envelopes. Very basic checking which does not include a check cover, paper leger booklet, or mailing envelopes. Having my doubts now if this was a good bank selection. If you want a major disappointment from a bank, then this is your choice.
My branch is Hebron, CT., lovely people no issues. Whatever made Berkshire Bank change their on line banking...no clue it's horrendous, non user friendly, cumbersome and enough to send me elsewhere. What a shame.
savings institute was great, they should have never sold out to Berkshire, berkshire is horrible to deal with, and they cant seem to get anything done, and cause problems when there wasnt any problems to begin with, they somehow make things that are working fine... worse.
After many enjoyable years as a Business Client of Commerce Bank, whom actually had people qualified to help you in a professional personal way.. understanding the many nuances of running a small business .. being forthright and always treating you as a hardworking business owner , ALWAYS TRYING TO HELP......
