I used CarCostCanada , immediately a city dealership contacted me. All this is, is a contacting site used by salespeople at dealerships to get customers Don’t use this site unless you like to be pestered by salespeople at dealerships you would never deal with. A sneaky way nabbing customers.

I thought motormouth car reviews on YouTube was decent and fell for his pitch about better deal using his promo code at Carcostcanada get a new car at dealer invoice pricing. I am totally scammed. Their so-called invoice pricing $3849 more than what was listed from ford.ca for 2021 Ford Edge SEL. These scammers thinks rest of us buried our head in sands.

Useless information. Looking to buy a ford mustang gt premium and its telling me that an msrp vehicle of 64 grand cost the dealership 58 grand and yet the same dealership and all other dealerships selling the same model are selling them for low 50s all of a sudden this month. If this thing told me that these dealers are capable of losing thousands of dollars on vehicles then i wouldnt have bought my vehicle thinking im paying close to cost when in reality its nowhere near their cost. Complete waste of time. Dont trust this information.

(1) I'm not a member. I just tried the intro' car cost data complimentary quotation on a new car.
(2) All I received for my first search was the dealer's car cost/price set by Toyota Canada. I e
xpected the "best" possible price for the customer on your trial / sample response. Obviously that is totally unsatisfactory.
(3) I logged on to CCC online and spoke to no one, it's impossible to rate your customer service agents communications.

Hello Brian,

CarCostCanada provides information to new vehicle purchasers for Free. The dealer invoice price and information about factory rebates and special finance rates are not offered to consumers by new car dealers. We provide this information on virtually every vehicle sold in Canada for Free. We also strive to refer every member to a cooperative dealer. All new cars in Canada are purchased or leased by the consumer from a new car dealer.

Our service feature list on our web site's start page includes a referral to a new car dealer. All members can unsubscribe from dealer referrals while retaining access to our application.

Establishing a relationship with a dealer when purchasing a vehicle is beneficial. If you prefer to conduct your research without dealership communication, you are free to do so. Dealers will not pester you if you politely ask them to stop contacting you.

Good luck with your new car purchase.

Avoid CarCostCanada

I used CarCostCanada to research a vehicle purchase about 8 years ago and found the service useful. When I tried it again this past month the experience was very poor. First, it is true what others are saying that as soon as you sign-up and save a cost report you will receive multiple emails and texts from local car dealerships that are also paying CarCostCanada for leads. The message are automated and frequent. I ended up having to mark the dealership emial domain as spam because blocking one email was not enough; they used multiples.

Even more troubling, however, is that the quality of cost information is very poor. My impression is that it is not cost information at all. The pricing I received on the CarCostCanada report showed that the dealer purchase cost was "higher" than the "selling" price. And, both prices were higher than what the dealer actually showed me after a test drive. I thought for sure there must be a mistake so I compared the report and the dealer's provided spec sheet line by line and every option was identical. The site didn't provide accurate cost information.

I did report my concerns to the company and received an email saying they would let me know when they had cost information available. Seems odd - carCOSTcanada? If you don't have costs for a car, why not just say so? Is providing the lead to the dealership more important than providing the information to customers that they have paid for?

I am concerned the business model of the site may have degenerated into email harvesting only.

Hello Tim and thank you for being a CarCostCanada Member since April 2009! We are sorry you feel things have gone wrong recently. As a long-time member who has paid us more than once for access to our proprietorial CarCostCanada Market Value Reports, it appears you forgot that referrals to a CarCostCanada Recommended Dealer are optional. Please contact our customer service team to update your account preferences.

CarCostCanada Recommended Dealers enter into an agreement to cooperate with CarCostCanada Members, promising the best available deals, high quality professionalism and exceptional first-in-line experience. Recommended Dealers also undergo a vetting process and receive training about sales sensitivity. Most CarCostCanada members report positive experiences with this model, so we are truly sorry you are not satisfied with it.

Our team of dealer experts is ready to advise all our 450,000+ CarCostCanada Members about managing relations with car dealers, to improve satisfaction and help with all aspects of the car buying experience.

In your review you appear to be cross referencing a few different events, making them sound like one continuous recent experience. In July 2023, you communicated with our customer service team about your account and a recent payment and you used your membership to access two deeply detailed reports about two different brand vehicles. Because we have CarCostCanada Recommended Dealers near you for those brands, you were referred to them.

Six months later, you came back and looked at one of those vehicles again, plus you looked at a third vehicle from another brand. We did not recommend a dealer for that third vehicle, however you report you visited a dealer about that vehicle and our pricing table was wrong versus what the dealer told you. Unfortunately, you never sent us what the dealer gave you, so we can’t comment on that. We do know this vehicle has not been well received by the market and most recent sales numbers show under 300 vehicles sold in Canada in 2023 (compared to 16,000 for one popular competitor).

We CAN say that we HAVE found a display discrepancy in the way we show numbers to our members. Some manufacturers charge their dealer a “hidden fee” that they are not allowed to “officially” pass on to the customer, but dealers do add the cost when calculating the price for customers. Our members deserve to understand all the costs involved. Up till now we probably over-explain this issue by adding this hidden fee to a mathematic table in our detailed reports. However, in the case of the vehicle you are looking at, due to small supply, the manufacturer has not officially released a “true cost” for the dealer, instead they pay dealers a “commission” for each one sold. Without a true cost, our system showed MSRP and then added the hidden fee, making the “total cost” higher than the MSRP. Elsewhere in the 5 reports you created for this vehicle we do explain this, but maybe you didn’t see that explanation? We will remove the fee from the math equation to avoid future confusion AND we will improve the explanation that we provide, and we truly thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Despite your recent disappointment with our service, we hope you now understand a path to resolve your concerns and we look forward to you using our services again in the future!

Used CCC for over a decade, last experience poor

I've been using CCC for over a decade, to purchase a half dozen cars. I am what they call a "lifetime" member. This most recent experience was very disappointing.
I tried out the concierge service to see if they could get a better deal than I was able to on a new Jeep. I forked over the fee and waited.
No response after a few weeks, so I emailed for an update. I was told it was coming, "sorry for the mix up".
Waited another week, asked again, no response. So, I started looking for a car deal myself.
Asked CCC again for an update and finally they realized they had sent the report to the wrong email address over a month ago. Well that car was sold and gone, it was the wrong trim anyway, and in the meantime I just went ahead and bought a car by myself.
Total waste of time and money, very disappointing, I was hoping the concierge service would be something I could rely on in the future but now I see it's just a disorganized mess. What a shame, the concept was good.

Two stars because of my previous good experiences but otherwise, I WOULD SAY AVOID.

EDIT: Regarding the reply below, I emailed CCC multiple times as stated above, from the correct email address, and my personal email address on my profile WAS up-to-date. It's a sad excuse to say the situation is the customer's fault. Never at any point did I communicate from that old email address with CCC for this transaction. If their system is broken or buggy, that's not my problem.
Rating reduced to one star.

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for your review and we are glad to know that we have met your expectations prior to this latest experience.

In regards to this particular request, for some reason you were maintaining two separate email addresses with us and we received messages from you from both accounts.

Your initial request for our "Get A Dealer Quote" service came in on July 26, 2022 and our dealer team completed the task and emailed you the quote on July 28th, 2022.

It only came to our attention later that you never received the quote when you emailed us using your 2nd account.

The confusion could have been avoided if you would have requested the quote using the account you wanted to use going forward, instead of using an account with an email address that you apparently no longer monitor.

We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations this time. It was an uncommon instance and we’ll do better.

We thank you for your loyalty to CarCostCanada.

After printing a carcostcanada report

After printing a carcostcanada report on a Ford Maverick received a call from the recommended dealer from CCC. Calculated a counter offer after receiving the dealer’s offer, only to find out that the dealer in question has not been considering CCC pricing for the last 2 years. This experience has been a total and useless waste of time and gas by trying to negotiate a better price for the Maverick at the CarCostCanada recommended dealer.

Have Not yet completed a transaction but so far I am pretty disappointed. It took a very long time to get an incomplete answer. The price range given is higher than that of a dealer I contacted (about 700$l). I don't get it....

Double dip! Reports should be free!

You pay to get the dealer invoice price then they sales your information to a near by dealer! Double dip!!! No option to opt-out of the dealer sharing.

The report should be free or offert the option to not share our information to the dealer!!!!

I will probably never use again and definitely not recommend it!!

Looks like BS to me...

Looks like BS to me...
At the time of research, I looked up Acura MDX 2020 on carcostcanada and got the base model listed for $54,390. Then, I googled the same thing and the acura dealership came up CHEAPER, listed at $52.965 on their website, meaning you can probably haggle the price down even more...
I thought the whole point of carcostcanada site was to give you the lowest possible price the dealer would be able to give so that you know if you are getting ripped off or not. Useless

Hello CDN MUSL, we aren't sure where to start. First, our customer service team is available to help members by phone or live chat, so if you don't understand how to read our Price Report, please reach out to us. Since we have no record of you contacting us, its impossible to understand how you arrived at the prices you mentioned in your message. The basic retail price of the 2020 Ford Mustang GT Premium is $48,025, so you really need to explain your claims of a pricing discrepancy. Our Price Report explains the current invoice price of this and all new cars sold in Canada. It all takes into account the current Ford Employee Pricing promotion. In the end, if you are interested in getting the facts please contact our customer service staff.

I have been a member of Carcost for a long time.I have purchased many vehicles(my wife, daughters and myself)We have saved a minimum of $3000.00 up to $9000.00 on vehicles ranging from a compact 4 dr sedans,minivans,2 dr sedan and a subcompact convertible.Over time it appears as if Carcost has become more involved with(perhaps financially as well)with dealers.Does not seem to be an arms length relationship any longer.I would prefer not to have my name and personal info passed onto a dealer when I am researching a vehicle, but in order to get the "Buy Now Price" you have to.Reason for 4 star vs 5 star rating. Did not used to be like this. You would get your report, decide what you wanted to pay,go to almost any dealer(they would usually be receptive if you had report in hand) and do the deal.Have never played one dealer against another because I did not need to and I was comfortable with price I offered.Takes haggling out of it.Like the service alot but deals of the past are no longer as good as they were. Will continue to use service. The people at Carcost Canada are helpful.

No deal turned into a deal

The dealership I visited had not seen a Car Cost Canada worksheet. They were unwilling to complete it.
I’ve used this a few years ago and had no problem.
Car Cost Canada has since contacted the dealer and I’ve purchased a vehicle.
